They a) don’t seem to notice that taxes are a common plank of the left or b) don’t see that taxes necessarily go along with the philosophy they embrace otherwise, that “social” issues are directly linked with “economic” issues - thus, their Dems are going to put taxes in along with their “money for all” schemes.
Because they’re stupid? I think most people disconnect their voting from everyday reality. I had some friends, hardcore Berniebots, who moved south to NC after we graduated because the tech economy is booming. I have no doubt they remain leftwing dumdumbs, and they’ve never stopped to connect why NC is booming with the political situation.
