For the most part, Muslim nations have been incompetent at technology. True, Turkey and Iran have developed robust weapon production programs. But the ideas and concepts are entirely western. Their culture is not as “careful” as the west’s and it is likely that they will kill themselves with carelessness before they ever weaponize, produce and develop a delivery mechanism for a virus. They have a culturally imposed fatalistic view that whatever happens is Allah’s will, so why wear a seatbelt or take precautions? Unless they buy or steal the weapon from a western source, we have little to fear in the short run.
Longer term, if we don’t reform Muslim culture, they will eventually “get it right.”
All it takes is putting a few dozen on a plane headed to JFK and points west. Twenty-one days later, after they’ve toured the USA in their Chevrolets, and well, it’s spread everywhere. Remember, we had a plane full of sick folk land at JFK a couple weeks ago.
