Hey, if they’d suspected that it was against the law to sell stuff to terrorists overseas, I’m sure they’d have, well, okay, they’d have still done it, but would express regret later, then keep doing it.

“Not surprised by this from a leftist like Bezos. Should he have Sharia law imposed on him?”

Goodness, no, MtnClimber. I want that evil person to suffer under the laws in our country. I realize our laws in some degrees are milder than other countries... and in this case, I’m sure nothing we do to Bezos is severe enough. Still, our laws, our punishment should apply. TAKE ALL HIS ASSETS.

I don’t know if either of you have to do anything. Remember, Amazon has their own payment option, and I would think that was part of their problem.

I went and re-read what OFAC is for as I wasn't aware whether or not it applied outside of Financial Services. Disclosure: I work in Financial Services and am constantly having to take some sort of regulatory and anti-money laundering training even though I work in Information Technology and do not interface with clients or handle money / perform transactions in any way.

OFAC *is* specific to the Financial Services sector and does not apply to retail.

I'm very curious to know what law(s) Amazon broke here. There *are* laws specific to technology transfers of any kind to countries named by the U.S. Government. Some of those laws, as in the case of North Korea, apply to some consumer electronics such as personal computers.

I can see how Iran would be on that list and is covered by those laws, I'm just at a loss to know what that list is and am unable to think clearly this morning absent my coffee to find it.

I am coherent enough though to know OFAC isn't it.
