You’ll be surprised. There was even one time a dog was sitting in one of the first class seats. i forgot if it was Cathay as I switched planes in Hong Kong.
The problem is mom and dad who have never learned to say NO to their precious brat. It’s unfair to deny flight to well-behaved kids because of some out-of-control monsters. I don’t see a fair solution anywhere in sight.
I don’t think anyone is (seriously) arguing that babies and toddlers shouldn’t be allowed to fly at all. The question is whether or not there should be a minimum age requirement to fly in premium cabins such as business and first class. Perhaps five or six would be reasonable.
If you want a flight with no kids near you, charter your own plane.

Better yet, If you have children whom you have refused to civilize at home, and you LNOW you can’t take them out in public, charter a private plane so you are the only people who must suffer from your own belligerence.
All children must learn how to behave in public, and if yours can’t or won’t, then keep them he until they can or will.
I see it all the time in stores where they are used to running wild and screaming, demanding their own way. And these are the same parents who will be visiting them in prison because they refused to teach their kids how to control themselves.

I raised kids, and grand kids, came from a large family whose parents ran the home, not the kids.
Mone of the children in my charge would ever dream of acting out in public like that.
IF the Child stays CALM and VERY Quiet I personally have no problem with it.
Every situation will have different parameters. What I will call white noise: Natural Cabin sounds like the Aircraft Slipstream, Engine noise, Lavatory doors and locks, Service carts, Overhead bin doors & Latches, Aircraft Servos, Flight control surfaces, Footsteps, Normal conversations, Climate control systems (airflow from vents), Call Button, Reading Light Switches, Beverage & Dinner Service noises, Crew Announcements, Storms & Turbulence, Etc.
If things all intermingling then the Sum of the Whole...
Parents are Ultimately Responsible for Any Out of Control Child. If the Family has to move then so be it. Work a trade with Coach/Economy or what ever it’s called these days.

rlmorel, I was genuine. I was picturing little tiny baggies filled with fake poop like can be bought in a catalog with pink and blue ribbons attached as I read your statement! Merciful Maude. If I ever fly again, I just may try that idea! Nah. Wouldn’t want to give TSA a reason to search me upon landing or prior to take off! LOL
First Class Problems seem even whinier and more self-indulgent than First World Problems.
It really depends on the kids. My wife and I brought our two oldest children along with us in first class many times between the ages of newborn to five+. We used to get compliments about how well behaved they were (not just on flights, restaurants, too).
Our youngest, though, was not the same, so we rode with him in coach. You just have to admit what your kids are. That’s a tough one for many parents.
If they enforce this rule, its just going to push more movie stars into flying private jets and ruining the environment!!

We have grand babies that have flown in First Class, with us. We timed the flight as close to their scheduled nap time, as possible.
We booked the last row and made sure we had PLENTY of snacks, bottles, books, tablet games, etc., to last the flight. We received MANY compliments, from crew and passengers, on their great behavior.
We’ve always also received compliments when flying with our own kids, when they were growing up. They dressed nicely and were required to say please, thank you and yes, ma’am or no sir, when spoken to.
It does take it to an entirely new level, I have to give you that. I recall reading an article about a first class flight in which the reviewer complained that the airline was using plastic (gasp!) spoons for the caviar instead of mother of pearl.
When that’s your big worry, life is good. :-)
And unlike the slobs who get on planes in pajamas or other inappropriate clothes, I have always dressed nicely on every flight I've ever taken.
I have been discomfited and worse, by far more drunks and low class slobs than any baby or toddler, in any section I've flown in.
Re an "age requirement"...I've seen better behaved babies and toddlers than five and six and even teen aged kids, on flights. The seat kickers are worse than any screaming baby and some of them have been ADULTS in first class!

When my daughter was that young she got dressed and ate with us at such restaurants. She was always well behaved and well fed
