Relatives of Prince have asked President Trump to stop playing Purple Rain at campaign rallies, echoing similar requests made previously on behalf of fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees ranging from Aerosmith to Queen.

Or else what?
There’s a very good chance Prince’s relatives don’t even own the rights to the music.
True dat. Since they represent his name I speak to them as such.
Didn’t President Trump just sign a piece of legislation which was a great benefit to people in the music industry?
Knowing Prince ways....Ill say he wouldnt care if he was alive. He was real protective about copyright issues involving his music and wanted to make sure he and others got paid for usage
The artist formerly known estate as Prince.
He should start playing “Donald Trump Black Version”. If his estate complains, Trump can that it’s reparations for using his name in the song.
They can all just jump in their little red corvettes and hit the highway.
.
A sure sign of weakness...
He should just play the William Tell Overture.....
Poor babies
Yes
And those are true words
Pretty sure Prince himself was a Republican, though I’m unsure if he’d be a Trump supporter.
Make the Yellow Rain on Prince’s estate.
Prince did legally acquire all of the publishing rights to the songs he recorded for Warner Brothers (1979-1996) in the Spring 2014. Since His death (April 2016), because he chose not leave a will or a trust, his ‘Estate’ had to be handled by the State of Minnesota, and the rights to his much of his catalog were recently acquired by Universal Music Group.
As long as the campaign, or the stadium, or the station pays the royalty fees, there’s not a damn thing they can do about it. See ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, etc.
I wasn’t a fan of Prince, but he did achieve a good measure of success. The Rolling Stones songs I like would not be appropriate to play at any Presidential event.
