Well, they might want to fix the engine first.

The video does show a plane landing on the freeway, but since we can not “know” who landed it, I guess your statement is true /s

Idiot drivers just keep on going, passing the plane, etc.

People need to get to where they’re going. Nobody is going to wait and get stuck behind the closure.

Thanks for the post - I’d skipped the link originally, then went back to it to watch the landing which was really neat.
I think the initial commenter missed the fact there were two videos - the first was just some random talking head blabbing next to the parked plane. But the second one was worth looking for - and the way cars were passing on the right, you almost got the impression California drivers come across planes on their freeways as a routine occurrence.

In Philly, drivers (uninsured) would be cutting in front of him and "brake checking" the plane.
On the Gardenstate parkway In Jersey, the plane would've gotten stuck behind at late 80's model maroon Caddy in the left lane with its turn signal on all the way to A.C. .

A few years ago, my best friend was practicing "engine out" procedures ON THE DAY BEFORE HIS PRIVATE PILOT CHECKRIDE... After reducing throttle and setting up for a possible landing site THE ENGINE QUIT and he couldn't get it to restart so, his "practice" became an actual emergency. Luckily, he was flying over some grazing land and was able to land safely about 10 feet from a fence. Needless to say, his checkride got delayed about 10 days but he passed with flying colors!

Okay. The thing that struck me was just how stupid these reporters are. I mean, the pilot didn’t panic nor did the drivers of the cars on the freeway. Nobody lost their cool and as a result everybody walked away.

Nothing Short of a Miracle Not a miracle at all. Every student pilot is taught to make engine out landings. On my first flight test the check pilot turned off the fuel flow to observe my reaction. (I took the plane down to about 20 feet above some open field.)

Reporter states pilot landed on the freeway, then rolled out on an exit ramp! I’d say that was very courteous of him not to tie up the freeway.
