What’s with the two islands? Coming and going? Which one does the Capt use? Confusing......

One tower is for the Captain who drives the ship, and the other is for the Commander Air Group who manages the planes.

I guess they don't play together nicely, so they had to separate them.

I kind of understand it, I just don’t think it is important enough to justify it. And...it is not attractive at all to my eyes.

Looks like Big Lizzie has already left the NYC harbor??

I tried to see if folks could see/visit her. Couldn’t find anything :(

From what I understand, it provides two benefits, neither of which outweighs the downside of lost deck space, increased manning requirements, and increase in radar signature.

Two islands supposedly helps run flight operations more efficiently with better visibility. I don’t see how this is any great shakes, but that is what I have heard.

Secondly, it provides redundancy in the event of battle damage. If one island is damaged, the other can assume the roles.

That’s it. See...I told you it wasn’t much!

The Brits have always done things their own way. Sometimes good, sometimes silly, sometimes just bad. But they do go their own way.
