I work with dozens of Indians. That's exactly what they sound like. It's a stereotype FOR A REASON!!!
And by the way, nobody has a problem with Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel speaking in a "stereotypical" Southern hick accent. And I remember an episode in which Germans took over the nuclear plant; their speech was rife with cliches like "Ach du lieber" and "Gott in Himmel."
And then there was the French waiter, the Japanese soap maker, Fat Tony the Italian mafioso ... All stereotypical characters that no one seemed to mind.
And they speak better English than I speak Hindi, that’s for sure.
Nothing wrong with accents, as long as I can understand what they’re saying.
