Going “back” again: “Mama Told Me Not To Come” (Three Dog Night) and “Mother FReedom” (Bread) — both a little unusual for their respective groups at the time.

Check this out BTW — I had NO idea!!!

Great song. I saw that tour, and I really liked the opening to Waiting Man with Bruford and Belew both doing the electronic drums.

I also saw that tour at Merriweather Post In MD.

The best live show I’ve ever seen.

Believe it or not, I saw it at the exact same place - I was a midshipman at the time.

Best live show I saw was same band, last year in Cleveland. Unbelievably good.

WOW.

I can’t recall, but I thought they opened with Buford on the “Box” alone and he moved to the Electronic Drums and was then joined by Belew.

So, was it Waiting Man or Sheltering Sky they opened with?

This live video is close but not exactly what I remember.

Right - Bruford started on Waiting Man, then Belew joined him. And I think that was the song that opened the show. But it obviously was awhile back, so I could be wrong.

I do remember them playing Red - never quote understood Fripp's apparent fascination with that song.
