American politicians will NEVER say no to money.
That is part of the problem. If we set the salary at a million dollars a year, with no donations allowed, we would be better off and we would all save money in the end.
Politicians get rich off of the donors. That should stop.
You're only saying that because each one arrives in DC, doing okay because they're lawyers and such, spend their time in office complaining that they have to maintain two residences, yet someone leave office worth tens of millions of dollars? How nearfetched. What's needed is real transparency, and a dormitory system where reps and senators are required to stay, in DC itself -- and everyone else moved out. Solves the "problem" of a lack of representation for people who live in DC of their own free will.
