Got me through a lot of sickness as a kid. Would always make me chuckle no matter how lousy I felt.
My dad who passed away years ago, used to say Roy was the best guitarist of his time. He was right.
Classical Spanish guitar. Way outside of his normal genre. Astonishing and masterful.
Roy could probably shred with any metal player, if he wanted to.
I must agree he didnt get the recognition he deserved.
Roy was kind of like Buddy Rich.
Real musicians knew how good these guys were, even if the general public didn’t.
Sorry he is no longer with us. One of the greatest country musicians.
I heard him back in the 1962 at the Navy enlisted men’s club, San Diego. Nobody had hardly heard of him at that time. He performed by himself, a one man band, he didn’t need anybody else. One tune he played was Scottish bagpipes on a guitar. Incredible, never heard anything like it.
Long before "Big Country" did it.
Very likely, of course i'm not much of a fan of heavy metal anyways.
Roy was a maestro.
Hee Haw was the best. I loved it as a kid and as an adult. America does not make that show among many others like that anymore.
“RIP To Cousin Roy”

Cousin Roy on the Beverly Hillbillies. I have all those old classic episodes on an external drive.
No doubt; same here. My grandpa turned me onto him. Even though I turned out to be quite the jazz/fusion/progessive etc snob that I am, Mr. Clark could PLAY.
I hope he’s jamming with Jerry Reed and Danny Gatton (among many other outstanding folks who’ve passed on) as I type this.
You know that’s right.
To me, Roy was sort of like my pre-Danny Gatton idol; that man could’ve probably picked any genre and ripped it up like a savage.
RIP Mr. Clark.
I watch him every Saturday night on Hee Haw reruns.
Great video with Roy and others I don’t know watching Glenn doing “Gentle on My mind.” Brings a tear to your eye. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETkzK9pXMio
My late Daddy had all his albums. Good times.
I’m blessed to have a teen son who loves Old Country (despises the new stuff) and gospel music. Quite unique. Maybe he’ll make it “cool, again”. Sings in different quartets.
Part of a dwindling generation which really knew how to entertain. Cherish them while they are with us.
RIP Roy
Saw him at 9:30 on a morning in Branson. Great show. He ripped through, “Orange Blossom Special,” and, when done, he yelled, “Take that Soshi!” He was referring to the Japanese fiddler that also appeared in Branson.
