“The dogs are my best friends then too.”

I can relate!

For Thanksgiving, my Son-in-Law cooks a couple of ducks. For Christmas, he cooks a goose.

Allez Cuisine!

Even though single, I still prefer a 12 - 14 lb. bird because of the great leftovers.

Leftovers are where it's at.

Juice the large watermelons for drinks later on. Pickle the rind. Waste not, want not. Very little goes to waste around here.

“One thing that’s really fun the day, or night, after the main dinner is sitting around and picking delicious morsels off the cold carcass.”

My Reptilian Brain enjoys that activity, too! Lots of good conversation (Women Only!) in the kitchen around a turkey carcass. :)

We went to the smaller birds this year starting in the spring. I have collected 15 pounds of dressed humming birds from our feeders

Why not a Cornish hen? They’re tiny, too.

I watched a Mama Turkey raise her chicks this past season; it was fun to watch them grow up. :)

“Cold turkey sandwich with a half gallon of mayo is the best thing the day after Thanksgiving....”

Can I come to your house for the day after Thanksgiving?

A nearby sheriff went into a convenience store to buy beer. He brought two 6 packs to the counter. The employee told him the 12 pack was cheaper but the sheriff said he couldn’t drink all 12. True story. Went to school with the guy and he was never very smart.

So many couples have 0-2 kids today not many mouths to feed.

Saw a 40 lb turkey at the store a few days ago. Never seen one that big before . Meat mgr said they had gotten in 6 of them.Sold out quickly.

My mom gave up on turkey and switched to prime rib. I liked that.

...growing guilt over wasteful leftovers...

That's why GOD himself gave us turkey salad sandwiches.

Grandpa would go out the back porch to get our turkey. I’m thankful I don’t have to steam up the kitchen and pluck them these days.
