Browns general manager John Dorsey said last week that he was opening to hiring a woman as Cleveland's next head coach, and there is one prominent name on the team's wish list to interview.
The Browns would like to interview former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for their head-coaching job, a league source tells ESPN.
If the Browns follow through on it, Rice would become the first woman ever to interview for an NFL head-coaching job.
Cleveland's interest in interviewing Rice comes at a time when women recently have moved into decision-making roles in men's professional sports. The Spurs hired Becky Hammon as an assistant coach, the Buffalo Bills hired Kathryn Smith as a quality control assistant, the Raiders hired Kelsey Martinez to their strength staff, and the 49ers hired Katie Sowers as an offensive assistant.
A potential interview hardly means the Browns will hire Rice, but they are interested in talking to her about the job and seeing what she could bring to the position and the organization.
"She's an amazing person," one Browns source told ESPN.

She can always play some tunes on piano at halftime while she negotiates away winning plays to the UN.
Katie Sowers? Im a much more offensive assistant. Ask my boss.
I'd hire for a million jobs, but head football coach is not one of them.
None. Interviewing people can’t ruin a team. And the fine for ignoring it is negligible. The Raiders ignored it to hire Gruden, how’s that worked out for them?
‘But she might be a great coach!’
She might be a great surgeon, the problem is there is a lot of knowledge and experience that she doesn’t have. Same with a head coach.
And they will probably win just as many games.
Wrong question, IMHO.
The NFL doesn't need another coach, they need a new fan base. This is a gimmick to try and get people to watch, to buy tickets, wear their merch, etc.
Whether she wins is secondary. Considering the team's record, the bar is set pretty low for how many times she must actually win.
The Browns need to do something quick! Their legacy is on the line. They actually won a game with their interim coach!
