A farmer died after his dog knocked over a lever in his forklift truck, causing it to move forward and push him against a gate, causing fatal injuries, an inquest heard on Friday.

Derek Mead was constructing a rock garden at his residence in Hewish, near Weston-super Mare, in Somerset, England, on June 4, 2017, the BBC reported.

The 70-year-old farmer left his furry friend, a Jack Russell terrier, inside the machine as it was running but left it in neutral as he went to open the gate leading to his land, the Evening Standard reported. The dog was believed to have knocked the lever, sending the forklift forward

My brother was left alone in my moms car when he was two. He pulled the lever into reverse. Hit the house, tore off the car door then ran over my tricycle.

In many cases the word ‘dog’ is shorthand for hyperactive moron. Go hunting with dogs, man, WATCH THOSE GUNS.

So true. My Jack Russell Terrorist locked us out of the truck down in Georgia several years ago. I was pumping gas while my husband was in the store. I went in the store to tell him the dog locked the truck and no less than four guys jumped up, ran to their trucks, and came back with slimjims taking bets on who could get in first. We were unlocked in seconds, thanked them, and left. They were settling the bets as we pulled out.

I just posted nearly the same thing. I was driving a GMC pickup when mine stepped on the door locks. Lucky for us we were down in Georgia.

I, constantly, tell my cat, if, she kills me on the stairs, no one, (OK, a little lie, but, we are talking cats) will put food in her bowl.

I started driving a big ford tractor when I was 6 or 7. GrandDad was harvesting watermelons, and I was told to let the clutch out and drive straight down the row. Push in the clutch when they yelled. I was too small to turn the tractor with trailer around, but I could start and stop it by releasing or depressing the clutch!
Good memories!!

That’s okay with the cat . . . they have been known to devour their owners after death.

'A cat would NEVER push any type of lever....that's not related to food input.'

You've never met my cat. He does things just to push my buttons, so he'd definitely push a lever if he thought he'd get the same result.

Jacks...we have one partial. He lets the other dogs in and out when they are barking at the door. He is the scariest dog we have owned. He gets so much of what we say. He sets up trick situations for other dogs to get them to do things. And he has no shame.

Just the other day, I clicked on a youtube “best news clips” of 2017. One was a dog in car impatiently waiting for its owner to come back from store. It was standing against the steering wheel, alternately barking a bit, then beeping the horn.

I was hoping no one would say that. My cat is such a finicky eater, I think she would starve.

And you think she licks you out of feline devotion . . . heh heh, nope, she’s samplin’ the goods! Where do you think that cats get that “stare” from?

True story. The other day the dog and I came back from riding in the gator. After setting the brake and turning off the key I weny inside knowing I was coming back out in a bit for another ride. When I did get back in the gator the dog was waiting for me and lo and behold the key was in the on position. The little buger tried to start it while I was inside.
