In 1988, the Environmental Protection Agency called a meeting of atmospheric scientists. I remember well the meeting in a theater-like lecture room in the San Francisco Bay Area. I knew the atmospheric scientists from Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, Stanford Research Institute, and local colleges.
A man in a suit walked up to the lectern. He told us:
Global warming is a new national problem. Human CO2 emissions cause dangerous global warming. Future research funding will focus on predicting climate disasters.
The solar cycle climate model is 93% accurate at predicting present-day climate based on historical climate data.

No climate “scientist’s” computer model comes close to that degree of accuracy and never will because of the impossibility of knowing and mapping a virtually infinite number of initial conditions at a precise moment in time.

The only reason climate “scientists” don’t use the solar cycle climate model is because it doesn’t give them the result they want; global warming.
The climate change clown show is proof that even STEM is not immune from the infections of low-T and very low science progressives.
After all, if one wants climate research funds, where do they go?

Only ten years prior to that the scientific community held the lockstep consensus that the Earth was cooling drastically and a new ice age was nearly upon us!

As it turns out, their original consensus was correct. A new mini ice age is indeed upon us.
It’s too late. We were all already dead twenty years ago. they told us so.
I really don’t see that, Windy. It’s warmer now than it was in the 1700s and cooler than it was during the Medieval warming period. Rather moderate for an inter-glacial period.
Since inter-glacial periods have averaged 10k-15k years and this one started approx. 11k-12k years ago we’re definitely approaching the zero hour for the next glacial period though.
That must be why I feel so lethargic! :)
Time to catch up. Real climatologists have been predicting the imminent onset of a Maunder-type solar minimum for quite some time now.
The internet is chock-full of articles and videos on the subject. There are also dozens of scholarly books available on the topic. Begin perusing some of this stuff and you'll quickly discover how solid the science behind it is.
You haven't heard much about this, because it flies in the face of the global warming myth. That's rapidly changing, though, due to the fact that millions of people are suddenly seeking answers for the recent drop in temperatures they're seeing right outside their own windows.
A good place to start would be with videos of John Casey, an eminent climate researcher/scientist who's written some of the definitive books on the subject:

I am well aware of all of that. There is still no evidence that it is currently happening in spite of the honest effort involved.
Hate to disagree, but the evidence for an impending grand solar minimum is practically overwhelming, starting with core samples which clearly show a repeating pattern of planetary heating and cooling going back millions of years.
Careful study of those cores shows that we are at the very tail end of the present warm period, and have actually already entered a new era of drastic cooling. It even has a name: the Eddy Minimum.
If you're unconvinced, perhaps it's because you haven't reviewed all of the evidence and scholarly work supporting it. In the aggregate, it's a considerable body of work. I highly suggest you spend a bit of time really digging into it before dismissing it out of hand.
The “drastic cooling” does not yet exist so while the theory may be strong it is still just a theory.

Real climate scientists have studied that record for decades, and can point you to exactly where we are on that recurring cycle right now.

Climatologists are not formulating predictions of an impending solar minimum based on computer models. No, they're reading the actual record. What comes next is written right there in front of them.
