Christian singer Lauren Daigle defends singing on Ellen, confirms Jimmy Fallon show is next
Christian Today ^ | Fri 2 Nov 2018 | Staff Writer

Christian singer Lauren Daigle has faced some backlash for appearing on the talk show of Ellen DeGeneres but she says her critics are missing the 'heart of God'.

The singer was invited to perform on The Ellen Show following the release of her hugely successful album 'Look Up Child', which debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 in the Christian charts.

Daigle took some heat from fans for singing 'Still Rolling Stones' off her new album, but she told Way FM Radio that Ellen had chosen the song.

Opinions were split when Daigle posted a video of the performance to her Instagram page, with some being angry that she had appeared on the show of an openly gay host.

Responding to the criticism, Daigle told Way FM Radio that Christians should be kind to everyone.

'I think the second we start drawing lines around which people are able to be approached and which aren't, we've already completely missed the heart of God,' Daigle said.

'I don't have all the answers in life, but one thing I know is that I can't choose who I'm supposed to be kind to and who I'm not, because that's the mission right? Be who Christ was to everyone as well.'

Daigle has also confirmed she will be making her debut on 'The Tonight Show' with Jimmy Fallon on November 7.

In a post to Instagram, she said it was a 'personal dream' to appear on the show.

'So excited to announce that I will be on @jimmyfallon! I always said that if I ever make it on @fallontonight, I would run and slide on his desk. That would be my dream entrance. Who knows what could happen,' she wrote.

That was Johnny with someone, Billy Graham, who was preaching salvation. I am pretty sure Ellen is not talking to anyone about God (Jehovah). Going there is not going to reach anybody, except those people who want an excuse to be friends with the world.

But Paul was actually preaching. Is this girl preaching when she is on Ellen? No. She is befriending the world and selling her latest album.

Ellen is not the “woman caught in adultery”. She is the angry, shake your fist at God, self-righteous sinner. She has way more in common with the Pharisees who wanted to shut the kingdom of God to others.

Jesus was never gentle to such.

Jesus told us to take the Gospel into ALL the world. The world is evil, and that is where the gospel is needed.

Many no longer hate the sin at all - in fact they embrace and extol it. Thus we have the blasphemous corruption of the Rainbow.

Go and sin no more has become Go and sin some more.

He did not compromise - which is why he languished in prison and was executed.

Ellen was a judge on American IDOL?

Not a good one.

Agreed- and she is not someone who would seek Jesus out for forgiveness (unless God alone calls her to)- The point of the article i linked to was that Jesus ate with sinners who sought Him out, He didn’t go seeking them just to ‘hang out with them’- IF we, as Christians are going to use the excuse that it’s ok to hang out with sinners because ‘Jesus did’ then we are going to be in their faces giving them the gospel like Jesus did at every turn- and doing so will cause them to either get saved and leave that lifestyle, or cause them to get angry at us and have nothing to do with us-

Lauren is a very pretty young lady and a top notch singer. Her appearance on the Tonight Show in a low-cut top disappointed some fans though - didn’t seem like she was promoting Jesus as much as herself.

The better access one has to those needing the message, the easier it is to carry the message.

Jesus rebuked those who were upset about Him hanging with the :low-lifers" because it was they who needed His ministrations more than the already "upstanding"...Paul knew that to "infiltrate and seem to assimilate" in a culture gave one a better understanding of them and their attitudes and made it easier to carry the message...

Appreciate that my friend.

Yes it is a fine line when walking in the world with people I know and knew before becoming a Christ follower. My intent when I’m around those folks is to at least set an example of Christ like behavior as much as possible while subtly attempting to pull them toward Jesus and maybe a visit to my home church. I’m not very good at it yet but I will not give up. After all, that IS what we Christ followers are called to do.

If you have time please feel free read my profile.

Jesus ate with tax collectors, prostitutes and other sinners. We are to reach out to all with the message. We are to love the sinner and hate the sin. As long as she does not share in the sin, I have no problem with her going on the show. We are to show Christ’s love to everyone. We will not win the hearts of sinners for Christ by refusing to associate with them.

Jesus ate and shared fellowship with all of them, and told them about salvation. Many of them got saved, many did not.

This female singer, as far as I know, did not tell Ellen or her audience anything about Jesus, just hawked her new album.

How was the audience or the world supposed to get anything from that about Jesus? And that is a greater sin than anything Ellen ever did.

Remember, hanging with sinners usually ends with us compromising our values, not them compromising their lack of values- Not always of course, but usually- The fine line is between having acquaintances with the unsaved, which we all must do because we live in a fallen world, and ‘hanging out with them while ignoring their sin”

From that article i posted:

“It’s true that Scripture tells us of Christ eating with sinners (Luke 15:1) and publicly coming to their defense,.........The New Testament tells several stories along these lines. But it certainly doesn’t tell any stories where Christ accompanies a sinner in his sin, or sits by while a sin is being committed, or forgoes an opportunity to call a sinner to a life of holiness.

If she is a Christian musician hopefully her music speaks for her. I don’t know her I am just not willing to condemn her for reaching out to sinners. After all I am a sinner as well and if no one had brought the Gospel to me I would be utterly lost

As far as I can tell, she did not go on the Ellen show to reach anybody, she went to hawk her music.

Supposedly the music is Christian themed. But she is still selling something, not promoting Jesus.

Yeah - He also spoke in parables so those who thought about His words would get the idea and not ignore the gist of His messages....

You ignore the real point that the apostles wondered why he would give known bad eggs the time of day and He told them (once again - noticed you left it out of your 'rebuttal") that it wasn't the well that needed the doctor's care....(another paraphrase, but one who uses an offshoot article (in "The Blaze" no less) instead of the actual Bible to rebut a comment about what the Bible says might not care what the Bible says.
