Murphy Brown fans. We are NOT CANCELED!!!!! Several entertainment sites read a mid season schedule put out by CBS that did not have our show on it and the assumption was made that we were not renewed. Our order, at our request was 13 eps. We look forward to a second season.
“Surprisingly MASH, even with its leftist bends, seems to stay pertinent by staying on the bigger goals that are still pertinent (war is hell)”
Particularly the McLean Stevenson-Wayne Rogers-Larry Linville era, and even more so the very good old days of Spearchucker and Ho Jon and Ugly John. The last two or three seasons that focused on the adventures of Harry Morgan, Jamie Farr, and William Christopher interspersed with drama from Alan Alda or Mike Farrell or David Ogden Stiers or Loretta Swit might have had some mildly amusing instances, but nothing compared the first era I mentioned in terms of all sorts of timelessly sidesplitting moments to enjoy again and again.
Who watches this tripe?
If M*A*S*H had lasted any longer I’m sure they would have had a “very special episode” where Klinger got AIDS and Hotlips got married to the padre after he had had a sex change operation.
“The triteness is masked by a studio audience trained to laugh loudly at every line spoken”
even though shot in front of a live audience, an artificial laugh track is still used with Murphy Brown, just like a laugh track is always used with ALL network “comedies”, because the “comedies” are so lame that without a laugh track no one would ever realize anything they said was supposed to be funny ...
“I dont really watch sitcoms anymore since Seinfeld went off the air.”
ditto. except for HBO’s “Silicon Valley”, which is outrageously funny, especially for anyone who’s ever worked in IT ...
Waiting for the Season Premiere where Murphy Brown assassinates POTUS Trump by jumping on top of him and crushing him with her massive weight.
An Emmy winner for sure.
Murphy Brown has more year rings than a California redwood.
Murphy Brown must be related to Jerry Brown and Willie Brown. Can’t get rid of any of them, no matter how bad they are.
Replace Candace with Roseanne, give her creative control, and ratings would double.
The sophomoric writers threw the word, “spatchcock” in because it sounds naughty. They had no clue how it’s done so had Brown wave around a spatula and not a butcher knife.
Far-Left Murphy Brown Revival Cancelled After Terrible Ratings
Murphy Brown has not retained the audience of it’s lead-in. It should be cancelled.
But these claims dont fit the evidence. The Hollywood Reporter notes that CBS plans to place the comedy sitcom Fam in the 9:30 pm spot previously held by Murphy Brown starting Jan. 10. If Murphy Brown is slated for renewal, why would CBS fill its spot with another show?
Its for this reason that few believe CBSs claim, including conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh.
CBS has canceled Murphy Brown. Historic low ratings. CBS is saying (paraphrasing), Hey, theres no news here. Were canceling it after 13 weeks. It was only a 13-week order. So were just not renewing it. Were not canceling anything,’ he said on the radio Wednesday.
Thats their story, and theyre sticking to it. You know as well as I do that if Murphy Brown had been a hit, that theyd be trying to do another Roseanne version of it except not get rid of Candace Bergen.
The Connors is an ABC reboot of the popular sitcom Roseanne, which was cancelled earlier this year after lead actress Roseanne Barr mocked former Obama administration aide Valerie Jarrett with a joke that some deemed to be racist.
The fact that CBS isnt actively trying to keep Murphy Brown alive the way ABC tried to keep Roseanne alive suggests it has very little if any at all interest in maintaining the show.
Hope that they never take it to Netflix, Hulu, or any network like that, where ratings don’t matter, and they have tons of money to keep it going.
