Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson set straight any misinformation concerning his views on President Trump: “I don’t think he’s capable,” he said during an interview on Tuesday.
Urs Gehriger, an editor at “Die Weltwoche,” the country’s leading German-language opinion weekly, noted that Carlson’s new book, “Ship of Fools,” is silent on Trump but comments on his critics. And so, Gehriger jump-started the conversation by asking what Carlson thought of Trump’s first two years in office.
Carlson said he cannot stand Trump’s self-aggrandizement and boasting. Then, when asked whether Trump has kept his promises, the usually quick-witted and long-winded Carlson had just one word: “No.”

Back in 2008, did you expect that Trump would come along in '15? I sure didn't.
Who knows who is out there, somewhere, who has been influenced by Trump and shall enter the political scene, on our side, in the future? Is that just wishful thinking? Nope; just read/listen to those now in the #WALKAWAY MOVEMENT!

Well, ‘conservative’ does not have an objective definition.
Plus, this is The FREE REPUBLIC. Not the Conservative Republic.
There are plenty of sites devoted to the latter around - well, one less (Weekly Standard) pretty soon. But not so many sites that would advocate a return to a truly originalist Free Republic.
And Trump is not even close to a Free Republic advocate. Domestic policy-wise he is much closer to the typical big government Republican.

It's an entirely subjective definition. Paul Ryan says he is conservative too. And, by anyone's definition, he IS conservative - relative to Nancy Pelosi.

Free Republic, on the other hand, is a much more objective term. And, yes, I maintain that Trump absolutely is NOT a supporter of that concept.

Since there is no single, objective definition of 'conservative', let's stick with what JimRob has on the site's Home Page:

...and he goes on to quote the 9th and 10th amendments and Reagan to further support the site's devotion to the notion of limited government.
So THAT is this site's definition of 'conservative'. Or at least a very significant part of it.
Does that sound like Trump? Not even close!
He loves the entitlements which are the antithesis of limited central government. He campaigned on preserving them, for crying out loud.
By the way, when you feel the need to repeatedly tell everybody that other opinions are funny... usually just means the other guy is winning.
But, hey, I'm not tired of winning yet.

Ok, Tuck, WHERE are you going to come up with enough semi-competent people to replace 90% (at least) of the Federal bureaucracy (janitors and such can probably stay), WHO would you have surrounding Trump “that can get it (more of Trump’s agenda) done” (in Congress) and actually want to, and... please specify just HOW you would accomplish such?

More seriously — I’m not advocating that last! — what I’m getting at is that the GOPe’s agenda is clearly not Trump’s agenda. So, is there specific arm twisting Trump could do, or are there substantive threats that Trump could make, that YOU know he has not employed? Or, if “horse trading” and negotiation is the key, what specific compromises or trades not already tried would work, and not peel off substantial numbers of Trump supporters?
The ONE issue where it may be that Trump “blew it” was the ObamaCare repeal: Trump may have triggered McCain’s bitterness unwittingly. Trump gets so much hate and scorn all the time, without it seeming to really embitter him, that it may not have occurred to Trump that swinging back at McCain would so enrage McCain that the Senator would put his desire for revenge over his own prior position, not to mention the good of the country.
OTOH, the Pubs could have re-voted on ObamaCare after McCain was gone, and have not. That makes me think McCain’s no vote on repeal was simply the vote no one had to take back to their voters. Lacking it, some other squish Senator would have been found: Probably Flake, or Murkowski.
The main point is, Tuck ol’ boy, without very specific positive recommendations that would actually work, you are in this instance merely a gasbag.

I think the GOPee after Trump is totally dead.
They have mostly fought him while still somewhat fighting a rear guard action on the Commie-fashist-’Rats.
They really have no long-term support from the Base and will be sent into obscurity as they continue to not support the will of the Base.
Lots of people on this site and off it may claim to be "CONSERVATIVE"; that doesn't make it so and that term is NOT "subjective" nor ephemeral. It's just that YOU don'/t understand what the meaning actually is.

Read down to what JimRob considers ‘conservative’. Much of it is the opposite of Trump. The emphasis is on constitutionally limited central government.
Again, ‘conservative’ can mean whatever you want it to mean. Free Republic is a much more stable concept. And, I think JimRob understands it quite well based on the bulk of the text on the page from which you quoted a greeting rather than a definition.
Trump fits some of JimRob’s definition well. But the heart of it is not in Trump’s heart.
Though I still very much like most of what he has done. Fortunately, he failed miserably at some things which are anti-Freedom - like TrumpRyanCare.
Yes. This one of the things he has done that that really shines for me. Granted, I know this is not important to some people, but the size, growth, and intrusive aspect of the government footprint in our lives has been a source of anger and frustration to me.
I read once that any of us as Americans could be in violation of multiple laws or statutes at any time. And when that happens, we are all lawbreakers.
And we are at the mercy of a government that, on a whim (as amply demonstrated by the spying scandal against President Trump and his team) the power full power, weight, and surveillance capability of the United States can be brought to bear against you.
Hell, look at what happened to Dinesh D’Souza. He was a selective prosecution for political reasons. They could do that to any one of us.
THAT is why I like seeing the Federal Register shrink.
