“CONSERVATIVE.... It’s just that YOU don’/t understand what the meaning actually is.”

As a Buddha, I am already pretty enlightened. I’m so bright it’s hard to get any good sleep.

But please do give us the final answer on what ‘conservative’ means since you don’t seem to accept JimRob’s definition. Which I quoted, perhaps in the parts you did not read before declaring I said ‘NOTHING’.

Not really; the end of The Island was already being invaded by the "summer people" and the LIE was HELL on Fridays, because of them.

OTOH...even closer in towns, did NOT instill the same kind of "street smarts" and fighting spirit that are certainly evident in Trump now and which were bred into him.

Some of those who were born & raised in Manhattan, even into the highest social/economic strata got it; though with a bit more of an upper crust veneer than Trump has. That veneer began to peel away by the time the WAR BABIES came along and by the time the BOOMERS hit the scene, far more of it got scraped off.

The SE, costal end of LI wuz always a unique, separate, faux community, now grown YUGEly larger of late.

The LIE had some wild, exotic speed racers free to run back in the day.

You are absolutely wrong.

There have been no YUGE mistakes by Trump.

Small ones, yes.

He is the best President since Reagan, actually accomplishing many positive and good things for America.

The lack of wall is Ryan’s fault. Period.

Not getting rid of Obama care. A vengeful, crazy, small souled John McCain.

It’s far from over. He hasn’t been President for two years. Yet you fault him. Which is sort of like blaming Reagan for not getting rid of the Soviet union in 1982. Or not turning the economy around by 1982.

LOL...look, you supercilious, bumptious, irrelevant little nobody, I don’t owe you a definition of any kind, nor shall I post one. You’re far too blind to accept anything I would posy, so shan’t waste my time and effort to enlighten you; oh
benighted one.

True to a point.

The LIE was, as far back as I can remember, crazy on Fridays! It's just what it was, but just kept on getting worse and worse from the late '50s through the '60s!

Did not Trump himself say that he is not ideologically Conservative? Instead, he sees himself as “practical” and indeed seems to mostly be so, with some Conservative leanings in some areas.

“...Instead, he sees himself as “practical”... “

I’m not sure, but I’ll take your word for it.

Though, naturally, as Freedom-loving guy, practical government is not, at all, what I want.

I want what the Founders created. Very extremely limited central government. What is practical is for states to decide.

For the record, I never liked Carlson.

He is condescending, loves to use polysyllabic words, but without the class of W. Buckley, and is ...most definitely not amusing for my taste.

Thanks...Paul R. Appreciate that note of agreement on an important issue.

Trump isn’t Calvin Coolidge or Barry Goldwater. But who is in 2018? Heck, even Reagan wasn’t, as much as I admire and supported the man. I viewed him as the best President of the 20th Century by far, but even he had his political peccadillos.

Just have to accept people as being of the era the come in, in my opinion. If Trump continues to grow GDP at 3.5-4.5% annually, cuts back on the size of government, appoints conservative judiciary, pulls out of things like NAFTA and the Paris Climate Accord (publicly calling it a wealth redistribution scheme in the process) and tells our enemies foreign and domestic to go pound sand...

Well, he’s getting my vote, no question, and glad of it.

Yes, and I beseech you to continue to give them no quarter, nor pardon :- )

Every day the first thing I do is check to see what our magnificent POTUS VSG has posted on his twitter feed.

And his tweet skewers an opponent or tells it like it is, I grin and snicker with glee! GO TRUMP!

As Paris burns and Brexit is betrayed, at least in my own country we have a leader who is willing to stand up to the world in defiance.

But also, in the next moment he’s got a smile on his face or a joke to tell. And I have not seen his wit equaled by any person here on this magnificent forum.

“...you supercilious, bumptious...”

I agree. And thank you. I am a bit like Trump in that regard.

“I don’t owe you a definition of any kind...”

I disagree. You say I don’t know something and you do know it. Let’s hear it. So we can judge you like you judge everyone else. Though I promise not to use your evasion and silly name-calling in my judgement.

If you can’t hack it, then simply answer this:

Are federal entitlements something you consider ‘conservative’?

They are absolutely anti-Freedom. And there is no higher American ideal than individual God-given Freedom.

But I acknowledge some otherwise decent folks somehow consider them ‘conservative’.
