I think the secret is socializing them to other people and other dogs/animals. They can sense fear in you and will react accordingly when needed without the attack training which is suitable for most non-LEO owners.

Do you mean that they'll bite people who are afraid of them? I won't get a dog like that now. Had a monster once and ended up building quite a fence to keep the neighborhood kids safe from him. I liked him, other than than the liability, but a dog like that could cost someone everything.

If someone needing help comes to my place (even a stranger), I don't want that human being hurt by a dog. I am an American.
