Teaching of history is infested with left-wing revisionist claptrap. It’s less a science than indoctrination, and nobody is interested in getting their brain laundered daily.
In NYC when my mom was a student, Chaucer was taught in high school. I’m sure it was only one or two tales but that shows you how educational standards have dropped over the years. I studied Jacobean drama along with Shakespeare in college (as well as 18th and early 19th century English novelists) but had a few electives to study modern American writers.
Studying history is an honorable pursuit. I am a history nut and have written several books that took years of historical research to get right.
I dont have a degree in history, and those that pursue one shouldnt expect a high paying job at the other end.
Theres lucrative pursuits and theres honorable pursuits. Some cross over between the two. Others dont.

And what American history many in college are taught likely has the objectivity of a Howard Zinn.
Rush is always talking about how hard it is to understand that history is older than yourself...
