So tell me--which word would you use to describe all the governments of the "West?" There are republics, parliamentaries, and I don't know how you'd describe Italy's gov't.
He used one word to generally describe "the West" and it is used by most people to cover all of those--even if it is not *technically* the correct term for any of them.

Nothing. I just don't see the obsessive need of some to correct everyone's grammar when then they are talking about something much more important.
