Prince George's Co. school board members ask Redskins' leaders to sign Colin Kaepernick

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (ABC7) — David Murray is one of seven school board members in Prince George’s County now calling for Colin Kaepernick to sign with the team.

This week, they sent out an open letter to owner Daniel Snyder and other leaders.

“Knowing that we have the most dire need for him, we want him signed right now,” said Murray. “He can do a lot of great work to support our schools and our county if he comes here.”

“Signing Kaepernick would send an even more powerful message today; that a person can peacefully protest for causes that they believe in and not be punished for it,” said school board members in their open letter.

“I’m so proud of the work that Colin Kaepernick has done across the country,” said school board member Ed Burroughs.

President Donald Trump has been critical of the former 49ers quarterback, who recently became the face of Nike’s “Just Do It” campaign.

Kaepernick is known for kneeling during the national anthem, which he says symbolizes a protest against racism and police brutality.

Not all fans agree that Kaepernick should come to the DMV.

“Do we want to go with a guy that's familiar with my terminology who we worked out last week, or with a new guy to back up [Mark] Sanchez with a similar skill set, or go with a guy and teach basically a whole new kind of offense with a new offensive line and with a lot of those zone reads and all that stuff. Not a lot of time to really get a brand new quarterback and new system installed and taught in a couple of days of practice. He's been talked about and discussed, but we'll probably go a different direction,” said Head Coach Jay Gruden last Tuesday.

Is it any wonder that Prince George's County is a cesspool? This is made even more absurd given that Josh Johnson, the QB that the Redskins hired, is black. He earned his way to the team through his play on the field rather than running his mouth like Krappernick. I hope the Redskins tell these idiots where they can put it.

The school board is telling a coach of a football team who to hire?

That tells you about their priorities. It’s not the kids. It’s the politics.

Meh...

Kaepernick would demand a name change before signing with the Redskins.

A total recall of the school board is in order. It is time to get back to basics not social engineering in our schools.

It’s football. It’s a game. It isn’t for sending messages to society!

2014, 2015, 2016 Colin Kaepernick was 15-33. Sitting out two years is not going to make him better. Cam Newton is a better quarterback, and look at the year he has had. A lot of retired NFL players buy car dealerships. Colin would make a good used car salesman.

I guess Prince George’s doesn’t need a school board, since the idiot one they have now obviously has way too much time on its hands. What possible business is it of theirs to suggest which football players belong on a team? This is obviously an attempt at racial politics, pushing a person for a position because of their race. Not because of their performance, which was mediocre at best. Additionally, they put on exhibit the good ol’ black thing, making excuses for atrocious behavior no matter how horrible the behavior was. One can only imagine (after shuddering) what goes on in Prince George’s schools.

Okay, they can change their name to the Landover Redskins.

And Sackorpick can take a flying leap.

If they're so hot about his having a job, and his abilities, they should fire one of the school administrators and hire the p-whipped leftie bonehead.

Thanks for this info.

I don’t follow football nearly as much as many here, but, this was my impression, that Kapernick was at best a journeyman NFL player, and that this is the key reason why no other teams have signed him.

I want to carefully say this, but Prince George’s County is a majority/minority school district, with many of the sad social/educatioal problems found in such schools. This school board really should focus on the many problems in their schools, rather than getting into discussions of what NFL players should be signed to their local NFL team.

What, they need a ball boy? Someone to collect towels in the locker room, or hand out water on the playing line?

Krap insulted and demeaned my country, my race, my culture, my religion....

he dissed veterans including my parents and my brothers/husband/bils and all others who proudly served...

and so many cops have been attacked for just doing their job..

Why would any team want to sign a USA hating, Castro and Che Guvera loving communist that is going to embarrass your team every game?

I have no doubt that if Kapernick was a worth a $h!t football player, at least one NFL team would want to sign him,

But since he sucks at football.........
