Up to 319 people dead as Congo Ebola outbreak worsens

The Ministry of Health said Tuesday that 542 Ebola cases had been recorded in the province of North Kivu -- 494 of which have been confirmed. Of the 319 believed to have died from the virus so far, 271 have been confirmed.

Ebola -- which causes fever, severe headache and in some cases hemorrhaging -- kills about half of those infected, but fatality rates in individual outbreaks have varied.

North Kivu, which includes the cities of Beni, Kalunguta and Mabalako, remains the epicenter of the outbreak, though cases have been reported in neighboring Ituri province, according to the WHO. The two provinces are among the most populated in the nation and border Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan.

The public health agency estimates that more than a million refugees and internally displaced people are traveling through and out of North Kivu and Ituri, which could hasten the spread of the virus further.

These are the type of "migrants" which the current Pope insists must be shipped into Europe.

So are we sending aircraft to gather them up as quickly as possible and bring them to America? Bill Burr pointed out Ebola, said it’s a strange disease and when people get Afflicted with it they get an uncontrollable urge to go to the airport.

I watched “Contagion” with Gwyneth Paltrow.
Very scary as unlike most of Hollywood movies today, it is a very plausible plot.

I expect something like this will be the next 911 attack.
A bunch of terrorists fly to the USA while infected with Smallpox or Ebola.
Land...touch as much as possible and then shoot themselves.

Infectious Disease Ping - Ebola outbreak worsens - Update (Congo/ DR of Congo)

The Congo outbreak is the second-deadliest ever, behind only in West Africa in 2014,
when the virus killed more than 11,000 people. (Emphasis mine)
Violent militant groups are preventing health workers from containing the escalating crisis,
says the country's minister of public health.

Don’t worry, Dustbin Turd-owe will bring ‘em in to Kanaduh by the thousands!

South African farmers being evicted and killed, seeking refuge in Kanaduh? Sorry, tough tuchus. Your skin is too pale, so you must be an oppressor, so no immigration for you! If you are of a darker complexion and suffering various communicable diseases, Dustbunny will welcome you to the front of the line. Welcome to Kanaduh! Bienvenue au Canada!

Observers who know Africa a great deal better than I do claim that the Ebola fatality rate is under-reported and more likely runs about 80% under typical field conditions.

There appears to be no Ebola survivors over the age of 45.

Survivors carry dormant live virus and are potential vectors for re-infecting a general population. Fruit bats are believed to be the primary reservoir of the virus, but there are plenty of indications that human beings may be the real primary reservoir.

Ebola infections double approximately every 21 days. The virus can spread via aerosols and has been found to survive on surfaces for up to 40 days. It is actually not very contagious (compared to measles or flu)but it only takes very small doses of the virus to start an infection.

It is not clear why Ebola virus goes from dormant to active phases or back to dormancy.

The Ebola vaccine appears to be 100% effective. It is very difficult to make and there are insufficient doses available to immunize a general population anywhere. Health care workers, and contacts of stricken patients get first priority ("Ring vaccinations").

These seem like those "interesting times" that they warned us about.

I do not mean to undermine the seriousness of ebola, but after decades of scares about pandemics, compared to the influenza pandemic of 1918 or the plague in the middle ages, 319 people in this day an age of packed cities does not seem that pandemicky

It is unfair that America is not sharing in the misery of the Congans. LET’S TAKE THEM ALL IN!
