Therapy horses help college students, ailing children de-stress

On a recent visit to Northwestern University, dozens of students stood patiently waiting as if a celebrity were signing autographs. At the front of the line, were the stars of the show: Hope and Winnie – two miniature therapy horses looking to be hugged so they could help the students de-stress from exams... This is the fourth year miniature therapy horses have made their way to the Northwestern campus during exams thanks to Mane in Heaven, a non-profit organization that provides therapy horses to people in need. Founded in 2012 and based in Barrington, President Dina Ewing Morgan said the organization has seven therapy horses that travel to area hospitals, social service agencies and even universities. “When we first started doing this for college kids, we wondered ‘Will it even have an effect?'” said Ewing Morgan, who is also a nurse. “We do this with special needs kids and hospital kids, and seniors, but we didn’t know if it would actually work on college kids and they love it.”

And more silliness- "Therapy dogs and miniature horses. Coloring books. Massages. Even Fortnite tournaments. All this and more are ways in which universities across the nation are working to help students de-stress as finals unfold, hosting a plethora of interesting activities or all out “De-stress Fests.” One of the most common services provided come in the form of therapy dogs, specifically trained to be as calm and affectionate as possible. Campuses such as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and Michigan State are just two out of many that recently offered the friendly puppers to pet and relax with in between study sessions. Duke University went one step further. On top of bringing in puppies, the school offered what it called a “Stampede of Love” — miniature horses."

It’s nice of the agency to do this.

Previously attributed to Winston Churchill, but he probably didn’t originate it, either.

The US proved her decadence when Obamacare was passed while its supporters admitted none of them had read the bill.

What we are getting now is silliness. No wonder we don’t hear much from satirists anymore, like PJ O’Rourke. It must be hard to satirize the ridiculous.

As I see it, the 2 “comfort” horses are the only ones with their heads on straight.

I’m no expert on horses but I like being around them more than most people.

I prefer therapy cats. They take up less space, and their crap is easier to clean up.

I watched Jeopardy last week and some 20 something female Snowflake was on saying her big achievement was graduating Bicycling Class. She even bragged about her little certificate. She actually said it helped her overcome her fear.

She got her dumb ass handed to her. Probably too much pressure.

Can you imagine a WWII blitz over our universities. Instead of staying inside with the lights out, they’d be outside with their cell phone lights on taking selfies and complaining there aren’t enough green crayons.
