'Holmes & Watson' Currently Sits at Rare Zero Percent Rotten Tomatoes Score

The John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell team-up was not screened in advance for critics, so subsequent reviews will likely be added that may affect the score.

Holmes & Watson — the latest team-up from Step Brothers duo John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell — has earned a rare (albeit, likely unwelcome) feat.

The movie currently sits at a zero percent on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as of 8 a.m. PT with 12 reviews accounted for. (The movie was not screened in advance for critics, so subsequent reviews will likely be added that may affect the score.)

Reilly and Ferrell parody Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detectives, leading a cast that includes Kelly Macdonald, Rebecca Hall and Ralph Fiennes.

The Hollywood Reporter's critic Frank Scheck wrote of the holiday comedy that released Dec. 25: "Numerous talented British thespians are wasted in supporting roles in this Christmas turkey that, not surprisingly, wasn't screened in advance for critics. Although making them troop out to theaters Christmas morning is something of which even Ebenezer Scrooge wouldn't have approved."

The movie opened at a crowded Christmas Day box office, placing No. 4 behind Aquaman, Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns, and earning $6.4 million.

As 2018 comes to a close, two other films released this year earned zero percent fanfare: The Amber Heard-starring mystery adaptation London Fields and John Travolta's Gotti, the biopic about the late mobster John Gotti.

Don't care much for Farrell, he's not funny.

John C Reilly has to be just about the ugliest person well except for Ron Perlman.

“Without a Clue”, starring Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley, was a very funny Sherlock Holmes comedy.

Farrell’s movies fall into two categories very funny or very bad. Lately he has had so many bad movies in a row the funny category is a distant memory.

I am not a fan of Will Farrell. I have seen a few things that were funny from him, but I find him to be completely unoriginal.

I’ve never, EVER been a Farrell fan. I liked Daddy’s home, but I think it would have been better without him. Maybe they could have replaced him with Adam Sandler. I’m not really a fan of his, either, but still...

At least that movie had two men who are great actors. Ferrell and Reilly are a couple of overrated, not funny clowns!

“Making a comedy of Sherlock Holmes is a crime”

That was my first thought, or basically I want to see a serious detective show. Also I think most of today’s comics come across as showing themselves off. Also, off-color material is mixed in.

The trailer I’ve seen is just awful. Think the worst SNL skit ever

24/100 from Metacritic. 2.2/10 from Metacritic users. Awful scores.

Sample: "I think the Congress should make a law requiring [theaters] to return the money to anyone who walks from the viewing earlier."

I don't think I laughed once through Talladega Nights and the on a whim I watched Step Brothers and about choked from laughing nonstop throughout the entire film.

Come to think of it, this might be the only Will Farrell movie I've found funny. He's better doing cameos in other's films.

Making a Will Farrell comedy is a crime in itself.

But the Robert Downey Jr. Holmes movies had a lot of humor.

Other film versions have also had some fun with Holmes.

Believe it or not, I have Sherlock Holmes The Scarlet Claw, Pearl of Death, House of Fear, The Hound Of The Baskervilles, and Dressed To Kill currently lined up in my YouTube queue. Given that the weather is going to be wet, windy, and abhorrent the next few days and I bunged up my back to boot, I have quite the lineup to watch when the missus goes to bed the next couple of nights.

Opposite for me! I liked Talladega Nights didn’t particularly like Step-Brothers. However even his funny ones are not memorably funny! I will not go out of my way to watch one of his funny movies. If it’s on I might sit through it. He’s not Marty Feldman or Mel Brooks.
