Skip to comments....Rendlesham Forest UFO 'landing' was a prank SAS tricksters played on US Airmen, insiders claim

The SAS were said to have regularly tested US security by probing the perimeters of RAF Woodbridge in the English county, which allegedly stored Nuclear warheads and was believed to be a key target for Soviet agents.
But when an SAS troop parachuted into the complex one night in August 1980 they were unaware the guards had upgraded their radar system.
Their black parachutes were immediately detected and the British were hauled off for questioning.
They claimed they were beaten up by their captors who refused to believe who they were and repeatedly referred to as unidentified aliens, before being released 18 hours later after the British authorities intervened.
Seething from the interrogation, SAS soldiers were keen to take revenge.
As December approached, lights and coloured flares were rigged in Rendlesham Forest. Black helium balloons were also coupled to remote-controlled kites to carry suspended materials into the sky, activated by radio-controls.
Taking place over three nights between 26 and 28 December in 1980, military personnel from nearby RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge witnessed strange lights in the woods and hovering above the airbases which were on high alert as the Cold War was at its peak.
A great deal of nocturnal Christmas fun was had at the expense of the USAF - and the matter should have ended there, according to a letter written to Dr Clarke by an alleged SAS source.
Unfortunately, a senior US officer (Lt Col Halt) led the US contingent out into the forest on the second night and took along his tape recorder.
The hovering and whizzing lights were sufficiently impressive for him to send a report to the MoD.

You can believe Einstein or you can believe in UFOs visiting earth. You can’t believe in both.
Explain that please.
you seen to ignore the prospect of interdimensional travel.
I smell BS. We used to play war games when I was in Corps. On one field op at Lejuene we managed to capture a Recon team member of the OpFor. They were snooping on our position. We werent too nice to him and after we were done he spent the remainder of the op in prison, (the brig). Just a small taste of what you can expect in the real world if you got captured. I dont remember him whining about it afterwards.
Do you think that any SAS Commander would have risked a nuclear confrontation with USSR over being butthurt about a prank? I find that quite unlikely.
ET’s can easily visit Earth with no need for FTL technology. All that’s required is sufficient time to make the trip. And that can be had by some combination of advanced biotechnology and advanced nanotechnology. To say nothing of naturally-evolved indefinite lifespans.
Assuming Einstein was correct, interspace travel isn’t possible even at the speed of light due to the distance.
“you seen to ignore the prospect of interdimensional travel.”
Shhh! That’s a little too outside of the box. After all, remember that CIA coined phrase ‘conspiracy theorist’.
Einstein was partially right. You can’t go faster than the local speed of light. It is possible to go faster than the absolute speed of light. How? You bend space towards you such that each mile “line” is only a few feet apart. Thereby traveling great distances quickly.
No matter which side of the pond one is on.
The Universe is believed to be riddled with wormholes like a piece of swiss cheese. Who can say what highly advanced civilization has perfected the means of passing through them and has mapped them out like a subway system. Carl Sagan used this scenario for his novel, Contact.
“Assuming Einstein was correct, interspace travel isnt possible even at the speed of light due to the distance”
Correct. As the famed physicist Enrico Fermi once noted, if interstellar travel was a reality, “Where is everybody?” Carl Sagan made the same astute observation.
One very interesting book on the subject is The Paranormal Conspiracy: The Truth about Ghosts, Aliens and Mysterious Beings.
As the book points out, if Earth was indeed being visited by extraterrestrial beings, why do they typically appear as fleeting objects high in the sky - often at night? As Sagan pointed out, why do these supposedly unimaginably intelligent beings fail to land on the White House lawn, or in a packed football stadium, or take over the TV airwaves to announce themselves? Something else is going on. Read the book.
Claiming the U.S. was able to track the parachutists on radar, is where the story starts falling apart. If the Americans were tracking the parachutists as they were coming down then they were tracking their plane. The USAF would be extremely interested in who was flying it.
If the SAS "regularly tested US security", then the U.S. would have known because we are allies. There would have (should have?) been procedures in place for such tests. The Americans who caught the SAS would not have needed 18 hours to figure out who they were. Unless they were testing security without telling American military at all, which seems unlikely.
Finally, playing a practical joke like this during the Cold War would be a bit much, even for the British sense of humor. Or am I just expecting too much common sense?
I agree with the other posters who say it’s baloney.
Yeah, because that doesnt take unlimited energy. I imagine. Because no one has figured it out.
The Brits still paying us back for 1776!
Why do reports of alien ships always match the current technology of earth?
A prank? A prank that is not made public for almost 40 years. A prank outside a US nuclear weapons storage facility. SAS troopers parachute into a high security facility. They are detained and beaten. In their own country. This is not just fake news, it’s fantasy, a joke. Like a Monty Python movie or something like that.
British special forces operators were parachuting covertly into a US Air Base in the dead of night because they were supposedly testing the defenses without the USA knowing it? I can easily see how some might wonder what their real purpose was there. You're damn right I'd make sure that they knew this was provocative behavior that wouldn't be tolerated readily.
