GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A few UCF players responded with tears. Others with silence. And still more with looks of satisfaction.
The scene in the Knights' locker room offered a full range of emotions Tuesday after their 40-32 loss to LSU in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl that snapped a 25-game winning streak for the upstart out of the American Athletic Conference.
"I'm proud of these guys for the way we came out to play with LSU," linebacker Nate Evans said. "I mean, it's LSU, a team we should never be on the field with, according to higher people."
..
"Our team deserved to play in the playoff with what they accomplished, both this year and last year," White said. "A four-team playoff isn't an adequate postseason. I think most people are starting to realize that.

As far as "deserving" to be in the CFP what the Fiesta Bowl proved was that UCF would have been on par with ND in the semis.
I was just checking scores. Texas is leading Georgia by 10 which surprises me. I thought it might be a mis-match with Georgia winning easily.
Not surprised by LSU tho.
At least there won’t be the stupid bullplop about UCF as champion this year...
After UCF’s loss, the team with the longest active winning streak is Bama with 16 wins. The amazing thing is 25% of those games are either playoff games (2 last year + 1 so far this year) or the SEC championship game (this year).
its cute when they act like college football wasnt murdered long ago. what we have now is espns cash making whore, and the nfls free farm system.
Georgia has no motivation for this game...
Considering how and when UCF lost their starting QB, i’m surprised they even won their conference title...
to your point- the day after Christmas the Boise State/Boston College, First Responders Bowl game went into a lightning delay about 10 minutes into the 1st quarter then the game was cancelled a few hours later by the head of ESPN events...
in the grand scheme of things the game meant little- unless you were a BC or Boise fan or parent who spent the money to travel to Dallas for Christmas to see your son play his last football game or actually were a player suiting up for the last time...
there was no reason for this game to be cancelled- other than it was going to disrupt the ESPN schedule..
“Considering how and when UCF lost their starting QB, im surprised they even won their conference title...”
In 2014 OSU went into the CFP with their 3rd string QB and won it all. Having lost their QBs almost cost them the berth.
2014 OSU Buckeyes also has 2 first round picks on the offensive line, a top 5 pick at RB, 2 second round picks at WR, and 6 players on defense that eventually turned into first round picks...
the top NFL prospect on UCF is a 4th round d-lineman...
indeed. boise, in fact, was the primary motivation for realignment and the playoff illusion in the first place. no one was going to force their way into national prominence ever again that wasn’t already part of the syndicate. over time, there would be too many mouths to feed. that sh*t had to be stopped.
realignment and the playoff are just more mechanisms of control to enforce the status quo.
I can’t believe what a fifteenth ranked team is doing to the fifth rank. But the game’s a long way from being over.
The four game playoff is a joke. How do you not have the champion of the Rose Bowl in it?
ESPN didn’t cancel the game.
NCAA rules require a 30 minute delay when lightning strikes occur with 8 miles. Lightning continued close by and the teams agreed after almost an hour and a half to just cancel the game, rather than put fans and everyone on the field in danger.
that’s great...why didn’t they reschedule the game for the following day or so???
Sadly...you are correct. College football used to be fun...money payouts destroy everything.
you’re polishing the brass on the titanic.
How about 5 teams...1 wildcard plays number 4 ranked...winner then plays no. 1 ranked...and 3 and 2 play each other...or 8 teams..or 16 teams?....Champion plays Grey Cup winner...or NFL all star taxi squad. Being sarcastic cuz no one is ever going to truly satisfied when they get cut out. All in all...I bet you that less than 5% of current fans know who the 2007 ncaa champ was offhand. So it ain’t that important.
Georgia's DC is gone....best defensive player is not playing tonight as "he's getting ready for the nfl".
Weird things have happened to uga tonight.
A punt where the punter's knee was down.
Two fumbles by their best running back.
Fromm can't hit the ocean.
