I thought you could rape infants to cure that disease or does that only cure aids?

Granted its a horrible way to die, but can somebody seriously answer a question. Diseases like ebola and bird flu cause a few hundred deaths per year and they cause worldwide panic. The flu caused 80,000 deaths last year in the US alone, but it doesnt even make the news

The potential for an Ebola pandemic and the ensuing chaos and death toll from it vs. things like the flu are what sets the mind wondering in horror, so it makes for better news (more sensational).

Probably not

Because flu doesn’t fire up the media,it’s a “dull” disease..

The murder of Jon Benet got world-wide coverage, and still does, yet many other young children were murdered and got virtually no publicity at all.

It’s a disgrace.

The super hyper multi month 24/7 hyped stories with the breaking news gong every other minute about Jon Benet, Chandra Levy, and Natalie Holloway ad infinitum is what made me quit tv news through eternity. It really made my teeth itch

Family guy made a cutaway about ithis very subject that I frequently reference. Its funny because its true...

Anyone read the book Hot Zone by Richard 0reston? It’s a true story of an Ebola outbreak in Reston Virginia.

The mortality rate for the flu last year was 0.9.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

It’s only a matter of time before this escapes the Congo region.

rdl6989 :" It’s only a matter of time before this escapes the Congo region."

True that !!
Now, consider that you are already a 'carrier' for a number of days,
even before you exhibit any symptoms.
Now add 'fear' to that medical condition,
and the need to escape/ flee communicable disease contamination,
and now you will see how easily the virus can be spread.
It can be spread internationally, especially if you have the money for transportation;
while the really poor suffer and die 'in place', or get treatment.
