Just finished shooting the initial day for a commercial at L.A. 's subway system because we thought it was going to rain and didnt want the actors to get wet for later outside shots..
The stupid overpaid teachers were making a big ruckus and taking the trains to DT L.A to protest again. I know for a fact, these clowns would never get caught taking the subway and ride cars to work.
Our director told them to nicely pipe down/shut up due to the scene and it was costing us per scene He even added he gets it but this is business. Our director is a Hillary leftard fanboy..
One of these leftard teachers started chanting "TEACHERS LA.."
DIRECTOR: Hey a&&hole, I asked nicely shut up! TEACHER/S: we're on strike DIRECTOR: "I dont care. Do it somewhere. We paid for this platform or do you want us to call the LAPD right now and they're right outside for security.." TEACHER: "(holding ITS FOR THE STUDENTS). Dont you care about the students IN public school? DIRECTOR: "Nope. My kids and I went to private school. You are just a bunch of overpaid a**holes who just do this for your pockets, not the students"
OUCH
ME( i had to chime in) : "Hey, I heard the graduation rate is 40% and you want more money? FU and shut up or we call the cops right outside..'
that's when the actors and crew started laughing..
That...was...beautiful. *tear*
Some friends of mine were Pittsburgh public teachers. Lovely people to a point -— there are insane leftists. I care for them, known them decades, but they are nuts.
And this morning on the radio the whine was “thousands of kidz who get breakfast and lunch at school are the only ones who showed up”
Hilarious
Best reason to close the schools now - all they are is babysitting for Mexico
In the 80s my professor for Secondary School Education told us that a teacher should never strike ..
He explained that a real teacher taught and it was the students who suffered when the teachers were not at school...
Note: to be in the college program I had to join the NEA and pay the union dues for student teachers...
complete with ‘FOR THE STUDENTS’ placard. Blechchhhh.
I was amazed they were mostly white. There’s no way they can understand Spanish for the majority students in L.A. who are not white.
Max - I love your updates and insights from the belly of the beast!
A colleague mentioned that one of the issues is that the LAUSD wants more charter schools and this is not beneficial to the union. I’m not seeing this in the news anywhere. Can you confirm? All I hear is more pay and smaller classrooms.
Too funny!
MOST of my Hollywood colleagues (liberals) send their kids to expensive private schools in the city. They’re open today along with charter schools and you know those kids are in private when they wear neckties. The strict Jewish-run schools here are the same.
“All I hear is more pay and smaller classrooms”
That’s pretty much it. As long as the unions cover their asses, they dont care about the kids.
NON-UNION schools are the way to go, no strikes, just accountability to results.
They could get more pay and smaller class sizes if their city would give up the sanctuary city idea. Less illegals in their classes and less cost to the district.
Guess they haven’t thought of that.
Good, they can’t shout us down.
How do they brainwash you in the teachers program?
“Hey, I heard the graduation rate is 40% and you want more money?”
That’s gonna leave a mark.
And no doubt, if he were on a stage or in front of a camera, his love for the public sector unions would overflow.
They’re effing hypocrites. He’s just the director because the one we wanted is sick and time is money...

I have a very small sphere of friends. It’s hard for me to admit; it is difficult for me to have people in my sphere who are diametrically opposed to my beliefs. If a person can be talked to rationally, perhaps. If a person cannot.....
I’ve tried over the years to retrain parts of my being to be able to accept those who are so estranged from my beliefs. It’s more a ‘shake the dust of your feet,’ thing than a hatred. I ask the Lord God to put in their path someone who can speak to them in a way that will reach them. I know the Lord God has Servants who can reach those who are lost or misguided and it’s not something that everyone can do....
Thank you for the story. I admire directors and actors in commercials. I’ve done a few tv commercials and wow, they are demanding and exhausting.
The LAUSD teachers who interrupted your work are rude and clueless about the difficulty of making commercials. Shows that the striking teachers are also clueless about the difficulty of raising and teaching kids to become virtuous citizens.
KFI 640 radio reported that the LAUSD teachers received a gift box of rain ponchos that said Make American Great Again. Funny.
I listened to John and Ken on Los Angeles radio KFI yesterday. The proficiency rates for LAUSD students are 22% to 24% on math and reading. Virtually nobody on the west side of LA sends their kids to public schools. People pay sky high property taxes to support the public school system AND private school tuition (tens of thousand dollars per year.)
