Sadly even a GOP Congress, as we have seen, has no desire to cut spending.
Had control of the House. Control of the Senate. Control of the White House. Couldn't even cut funding for NPR.
At that moment I abandoned all hope that the GOP was sincere about fiscal sanity. It's clear we are going to crank the printing presses to 11 and run them till the collapse (which I suspect will be a LOOOOOOOONG ways off, as the rest of the world lives in mortal, quaking fear of it and will do whatever they have to in order to support the lie).

And I totally felt for Trump - basically alone. The corporate tax cuts were important enough that he had to accept the stench of the budget he got. As you said no NPR cuts. No cuts to Planned Parenthood. (I sincerely have to wonder if we have any pro-life senators). And not even an Obamacare repeal. The USA was blessed with a great system of government, but confounded by Republicans who frankly are a bunch of do nothings.
