I plant mine in a bag that has a flap on the side, I can remove potatoes when ready and the plant keeps making new ones. Wish I could post a picture.

I assume this pertains to potatoes grown on Earth, and not the moon potatoes the Chicoms failed at.

My soil is much better for tomatoes than for potatoes, and taters are pretty cheap at the market.

I grow potatoes in 5 gallon buckets. I get good yields and no bugs. 2 harvests per year.

I buy from the market, when they start budding I cut them in half and plant in 6 inches of soil. I will get 11-15 potatoes.

Potatoes: A Complete Planting Guide What's this? Another article about Congress?
To: Georgia Girl 2
My neighbor used to plant a large garden.
She planted potatoes vertically-—in a stack of used tires.
Plant the bottom layer & get them sprouting. ADD one tire, more soils & fertilizer, and the plant will continue growing & making more potatoes underground. Water normally.
Keep adding 1 tire, as the plant gets tall enough . She would have vertical stacks 5-6 tires tall, with LARGE potatoes at the bottom, and smaller potatoes nearer the top.
Took VERY LITTLE room in the garden. Could even be done in just a small space in your backyard

Storing Carefully pull the potatoes from the vine and store them in a cool dry place with plenty of air circulation and a temperature of about 40 to 50 degrees F. Do NOT store them in the refrigerator and Do NOT wash them before storing them. Potatoes may be stored in an underground root cellar, and under the right storage conditions will keep for two to three months. I talked to a potatoe farmer several years ago and he stated the same thing as above. He said it was important NOT to wash a potatoe which was surprising to me. He said with the right storage techniques he was able to store them for up to a year. Of course, the ones you buy in the store are generally already washed.
