Meat consumption in western countries such as Ireland may need to drop by 90 percent to avert a climate catastrophe and reverse the current obesity epidemic, a new study has warned.

The research by 20 influential food scientists, published in the Lancet Medical Journal, suggests the global food system is unsustainable and driving the planet towards environmental destruction while simultaneously leaving billions of people either underfed or overweight. […]

To get the required daily intake of calories, people would be expected to eat almost 18 times as much dry beans, soy and nuts. …

To promote the shift to a healthier diet based on a more sustainable food system, the study by the Eat-Lancet Commission, a collaboration of the Oslo-based Eat foundation and the Lancet Medical Journal, proposes a raft of measures including the introduction of a meat tax akin to the sugar tax and the withdrawal of certain products altogether. …

Which in turn creates great flatulence which harms the environment.......I'm so confused with these people.

Typical Soy Boys wanting all men to eat estrogen promoting soy to add to their ranks.

Soy milk is losing shelf space in a big way as males, even lactose/milk protein intolerant males have dropped it. My wife drinks it, so we monitor availability (she likes the hard to find unsweetened). There are MANY soy alternatives: rice, almond, cashew, oat, hemp, coconut, flax and pea are all available in regular stores these days, all at the expense of soy shelf space.

This climate model obviously fails to take into account the effect on climate change of the significant increase in human expulsion of flatus (otherwise known as flatulence) due to a purely vegetarian diet.

And just imagine the wildfires caused when wandering clouds of this stuff encounter campfires in U.S. Forest Service campgrounds.

We're talking major Code Red here.

Can you imagine the flatulence that would be produced if everyone greatly increased their consumption of dry beans? But wait!! We can’t do that either because of greenhouse gases. The only solution I see is massive efforts at starvation. The envirowhacks would love that one.

Pasture (grazing land for livestock) is one of the healthiest food-producing ecosystems because it’s welcoming to many different flora and fauna. On the other hand, farmers want to kill EVERYTHING that inhabits their croplands except the crop itself and a narrow spectrum of supportive animals (earthworms, honeybees, etc).

Veganism, bad.

Carnivorism, good.

There is one counter that will always stymie the politicians who push this bull-Obama.

If we should limit CO2 consumption to avoid disaster, state one number that all consumers must not exceed. Make it mandatory and includes ALL rich/poor/whatever.

If we should limit meat consumption to avoid disaster, state one amount of meet which all consumers must not exceed. Make it mandatory and include ALL rich/poor/whatever.

No exceptions. No Al Gore (fat *ssht) purchasing of extras for whatever reasons. No mansions, no fancy restaurants, no limos for Soros, etc.

And if exceptions are granted, we know that the threat was made up.

They assume that all of us buy meat in a store. Some folks eat game that they hunt and kill themselves.
