Joe Friday was awesome. He was in a move called The D.I.
Drill Instructor. VERY believable.

I always thought Devo was basically a band of made up of spazzes.

I mean, they referred to themselves as “spuds,” but that’s just Ohio for “spaz.”

>>10-4, good buddy - When you’re talking to somebody on a CB radio and you want them to know you’ve heard what they just said. During the 70s, an actual CB radio was not required to use this slang. It wasn’t just truckers who wanted to talk like truckers.

CBs became a fad in the 70s and non-truck drivers bought them for their homes and cars.

I didn’t realize until last year that Neil Young basically helped Devo get their start. Now you talk about your odd musical couples.

>>Space cadet -If someone isn’t all there, and their attention span is the equivalent of somebody floating through space, staring at nothing in particular, then they definitely qualify as a space cadet.
>>
>>Example: “Take a look at that space cadet. He’s in his own little world.”

LSD/acid casualties.

spaced out. beyond daydreaming. unable to think straight anymore.

...a few things (”cool beans” “do me a solid”) that could only ever be said by a geeky high school student trying to imagine they sounded cool.

Er... I was a twenty-something in the seventies and used those two phrases frequently. So did my bros.

We said it a lot in my neck of the woods during the ‘70s too.
Maybe a little too much. Possibly with a bit of sarcastic derision too but we used it.

The best thing about being young and listening to Cheech and Chong, was it thoroughly killed any desire I ever had to try any drugs.

It was already too late for me. My friends and I used to listen to Cheech and Chong while we were stoned out of our gourds.

I remember when the expression was “that sucks c***.”

Now little kids can say “that sucks” and have no idea.
