Your #2 was a rule change effective last season.

Nope.
The game played in the American League is inferior in terms of defense, personnel allocation and strategy.
Baseball isn't about hitting, and only people who have a very young child's understanding of the game think it is.

You mean like, the greatest hitter of all time?
Yes, he was a pitcher. And an outstanding one.

"Charlie don't surf."
And the corollary: most chicks know nuthin' about baseball.

When did it become a GOOD thing for managers to pull a dominant starting pitcher in the late innings of a close game just because the guy's spot in the lineup was up? Maybe you should read a book about baseball or something.
Because in the modern game, nobody pulls a dominant pitcher in the late innings for that reason.

I think the scenario I described was exactly what happened in the 2016 NL wild card playoff game between the Giants and Mets. Madison Bumgarner and Noah Syndergaard matched up in a brilliant pitcher's duel. Syndergaard actually outpitched Bumgarner through seven innings ... he had 10 strikeouts and didn't give up a hit until the sixth inning.
I'm pretty sure Syndergaard came out of the game for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the seventh ... and the Giants went on to win, 3-0.

We can certainly disagree but you don’t have to be a moron about it.

Interesting point:
Roger Maris' 1961 record of 61 home runs in a single season has been eclipsed a total of six times ... all of them by grotesque, steroid-enhanced clowns in the National League (Bonds, McGwire and Sosa).
Go figure. So much for the NL's superiority of "defense, personnel allocation and strategy."

The designated runner deal came about because you had 200-lb outfielders who were no longer able to run at age 32. Course, the union wants to allow it because you’d have to edge the roosters up another man.
To: Alberta's Child
You take is amusing, and has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Pitchers come out because of pitch count and other metrics that indicate that this time through the rotation the hitters either are already, or are likely to, catch on to their stuff.
If you look at the metrics of pinch hitting it is completely senseless to pull a hot hand for one out, and it simply is not done.

And that observation has even less to do with it.

Oh, wait. You presumed to lecture everyone else on the planet about what makes baseball exciting. I'm sorry, I thought you were talking smack and would enjoy the give-and-take.
But you were actually serious?
Hahahahahahahahahaha. Wow. You were serious. I truly am sorry.

If. MLB had had a DH when it started, there never would have been a Babe Ruth.
