The Worlds of DC might have just had their first $1 billion hit with Aquaman, but that's a drop in the ocean compared to what's expected from Avengers: Endgame.
Last year, Avengers: Infinity War grossed a huge $2.05bnthe highest-grossing MCU offering to dateand cracked the all-time top five, leaving it looking like this:
Avatar - $2,787,965,087
Titanic - $2,187,463,944
Star Wars: The Force Awakens - $2,068,223,624
Avengers: Infinity War - $2,045,422,411
Jurassic World - $1,671,713,208
Avengers: Infinity War ended on a bombshell for Marvel fans everywhere, even if they could all assure themselves that Avengers: Endgame was on the way. But that has only heightened the fevered anticipation for the movie as the question becomes HOW they will bring back our fallen heroes.
So could all that build-up lead to Avengers: Endgame breaking Avatar's incredible record as the biggest movie of all time? Let's take it one record at a time.
"Avengers: Endgame certainly has some huge box-office shoes to fill with the previous three Avengers films setting new benchmarks for what is possible in terms of opening weekend performance," Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, tells Digital Spy.
The Avengers (aka Avengers Assemble in the UK) was the first movie in history to take more than $200 million in its opening weekend in the US, while Avengers: Infinity War currently holds the record for biggest worldwide opening of all time at a whopping $640.5m.
Avengers: Endgame is opening pretty much everywhere globally around April 26, so that record is "potentially within its grasp", according to Dergarabedian. But will that continue and translate to an all-time record come the end of Avengers: Endgame's theatrical run?

Who cares?
Why would anyone post something like this?
It will hit at least $2 Billion, but I’d be surprised if it catches Avatar.
However, preceding it will be Captain Marvel which should easily make $1 B and be this year’s version of Black Panther.
Then, when Endgame plays shortly thereafter and Captain Marvel joins the fray.
This will be a huge year at the box office for Disney/Marvel.
Best new character will be Ghost, Captain Marvel’s cat.
What’s even dumber is that someone who doesn’t care bothers to tell anyone.
When was the last time you went to a party, walked up to people in conversation and said, “I don’t care what you’re talking about.”?
Er...why not? There is a "TV/Movies" topic in the "General/Chat" forum....which is exactly where this is posted.
Bad analogy.
Bad manners.
I’m just trying to help. An intervention, so to speak.
If someone’s eating junk food or poison all the time, they ought to be told they’re poisoning or harming themselves.
This is a conservative forum and it hurts to see the empty garbage of our modern culture worshiped here.
You’ll find you’re a lot better off if you stop wasting your time and mind’s energy on this nonsense.
I’ve certainly wasted enough time on you fin-face.
Really?
Were you around in 1977 telling people "Don't see Star Wars! It's poison that will rot your mind!"?
I cant keep up with all of them. To catch em all would pretty much limit my theater-going to such things.
What I was hoping would be a lot of fun was the second Guardians movie. It lacked most of the light-hearted spontaneity that made the first so good. Opening scene in the second was amazing and then it slowly descended into yet another pointlessly long CGI slug-fest.
“Were you around in 1977 telling people “Don’t see Star Wars! It’s poison that will rot your mind!”?
How old are you?
And are you under the impression that films of 40 years ago have the same zeitgeist as today!
No change in overall cultural attitudes?
But, that’s secondary. What’s the obsession with commercial Tinseltown product?
What on earth does this have to do with “Men’s Health”? Is that a Disney owned publication?
Men’s Health is Rolling Stone leftist groupthink propaganda.
Gone with the Wind is still the most popular (if you put all in current US Dollars)
I see FR as a respite from the cultural sewer we are bombarded with continually so I see focus on this as incongruous here.
Hearst

The magazine world is getting even smaller. Yesterday, Hearst, owner of mens publication Esquire, has agreed to acquire the magazine and book businesses of Rodale, a global health and wellness content company based in New York and Emmaus, Pennsylvania.
The announcement was made by Hearst president and CEO Steven R. Swartz, Rodale CEO Maria Rodale and Hearst Magazines president David Carey. The transaction is expected to close in early 2018, following receipt of necessary government approvals. Terms were not disclosed.
Upon completion of the acquisition, Rodales multi-platform content business will be managed by Hearst Magazines, a unit of Hearst with more than 300 editions and websites around the world, including 20 titles in the U.S.
With 93 editions in 64 countries, Rodale publishes the largest, most established health and wellness lifestyle brands, including Mens Health, Womens Health, Prevention, Rodales Organic Life, Runners World and Bicycling, while Rodale Books is known for conversation-changing titles including former Vice President Al Gores An Inconvenient Truth, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultzs Onward and Dave Aspreys The Bulletproof Diet. The divisions highly successful series include Thug Kitchen, Wheat Belly, and The South Beach Diet.
If you think a harmless film such as this is part of a "cultural sewer", you'll likely be happier not particiipating in the multitude of threads that will be posted in the next few months on the subject, given that it's almost certain to be the biggest film of the year.
56. How about you?
And are you under the impression that films of 40 years ago have the same zeitgeist as today! No change in overall cultural attitudes?
Overall? Of course there has been. But between the original Star Wars trilogy and the Marvel Cinematic Universe films? Not enough to matter.
But, thats secondary. Whats the obsession with commercial Tinseltown product?
