A Mary Sue character is by definition flawless and has no need to change. As a result, they’re boring characters in any story as there is no question of them overcoming anything. Who wants to watch boring characters?
Rey is a Mary Sue if the first order. Everything she does is perfect the first time. She flies the Falcon better than Lando. She skillfully fights a trained Sith (If that’s what Ren is defined as) the first time she holds a saber. And the leftists love to say, “If she’s a Mary Sue, what is Luke?” Luke was a skilled pilot and that’s it. He had to work for everything else, and he was still about as skilled as a padawan by the end of ROTJ. If Vader hadn’t been redeemed, Luke’s story would have ended there.
