Houston cop 'lied about drug dealing so officers could storm home' sparking a shootout which left a couple dead and five officers wounded

The Houston officer who led a deadly raid in which a couple were killed and five cops were injured lied to get a search warrant, according to the city's police chief.

Lead investigator Gerald Goines alleged an informant bought heroin at the house of Dennis Tuttle, 59, and Rhogena Nicholas, 58, the day before the January 28 raid. The informant had also allegedly seen a handgun in the home.

But according to an affidavit filed as part of the ongoing investigation into the raid and made public Friday, the informant told investigators he or she had not bought any drugs at the home and had not been involved in any work leading up to the raid.

That attitude justifies dirty tactics, but not randomly deadly tactics. A no knock blasting raid with falsified warrant info is of a different level of predatory behavior than a speed trap. If the couple were known bad actors this would still be a stretch, but absent that, I wonder, “Why them?”

Hmmm, 30 years. I wonder how many convictions would withstand an honest re-assessment?

Some law firm is going to make a bloody fortune exonerating the innocent.

I hope Houston has some VERY deep pockets, they are going to need them.

You treat the ability to make blanket imbecilic generalizations as if it were a virtue.

You are obviously a cop sucker.

I worked with the police for 25 years. Most of them were very good guys. But I had conflicts with a few, some even threatened to arrest me while I was on duty. And one time our house was raided and searched by the King County Swat apparently by mistake. I was at work, but they had their guns pointed at my wife's head while they were yelling and swearing at her and they threatened to kill our dogs who fortunately were in their pen. It was a very bad experience for her which still makes her shaky when she is reminded of it.

“Murder One!”

At least felony murder - if the evidence of wrongdoing by the officer holds up.

This does not look good for the raiders or the department.

And THAT is why “there isn’t any video of the raid”. WHO threw all the video away..?

None of the officers wore body cameras.

The surveillance video from next door was confiscated by police.

A house next door to the Tuttles’ home does have surveillance video. However, a resident, who asked not to be identified, said police took that footage for evidence

Maybe, but not likely. Per the article there are several other informants who also said they had no interaction with the couple. The article also states that the heroin came from another source, not the couple or their house.

May your chains rest lightly upon you, and hopefully they didn’t just walk through dog poo when you go to kiss their boots.

Iirc, every cop in that “raid” went in with body camera off.

Imo, that means every cop in that “raid” was in on the conspiracy.

What were they after? And who really shot the other cops? Was getting cops shot the whole purpose? Get rid of unreliable partners?

Daily Nail isn’t compatible with my old iPad browser software. This cop may well deserve a murder charge. Maybe not. None of us know for sure.

My comments are about the Black Lives Matter level of blanket condemnation and hatred of police.

My 40+ year of experience dealing with police departments from forces of three to thousands has taught me that 85-90% of police officers are honest, conscientious, brave men and women that do their level best to protect their citizens from the scum that surround them.

Cops are fully willing to do their, but only when:

1. The victim is a cop, or family member.
2. The victim is politically connected.
3. The victim is a celebrity.
4. There is a asset forfeiture possible.
5. There is publicity involved.
6. There is a chance to kick someones ass.
7. If there is an opportunity to break out the gear (MRAPs, Tactical Gear, NVGs, etc.
