Is it wise to piss off the folks that keep the planes airworthy?

Southwest used to be known for its high employee satisfaction.

If I believed they were doing that, I’d fire them all and hire a contract firm. There would be no lawsuit and no new contract. Just pink slips.

Unions have the reverse Midas touch, everything gold they touch turns to s***.

Unions are rotten groups of thugs it seems. The USA had to deal with their shenanigans in World War II, contrary to the history that the US was completey united then.

Anyone know what Airframe and PowerPoint guys get per hour these days? Back when I was entertain joining the ranks the 14.00 per hour inducement didn’t seem all that much...

I have a close relative who has a degree in Aviation Management together with an A&P license. He had always wanted to work for an airline, so he took a job with United in San Francisco as a Maintenance Engineer. After six months he quit. The dysfunctional management at the maintenance facility coupled with the childish behavior of the IAM Union mechanics made it an untenable place to work. And the kicker was that both his boss and his bosses boss were "on leave" the day he quit, which meant that he had to go to the overall head of the facility to quit. And when he did, the guy begged him to stay, offering him almost any other job for which he was qualified. "Friendly Skies?"

This kind of thing is a big reason why maintenance - and manufacturing - have largely moved offshore.

Union workers with the ethics to falsely ground planes would also sabotage planes, IMHO.
Unions have become only obsolete parasites. The government has stepped in to force large companies to provide decent pay, working conditions and benefits.
As an aside, the first unions that need to be abolished are public service unions!
