Sorry, but I must disagree. I’ve been working with law enforcement.... Forces both large and as small as 3 and my experience tells me that the vast majority of officers our conscientious, dedicated professionals that do their level best to take down the bad guys and protect their citizens.

I’ve been doing this for close to 40 years and some things have changed but the cops in the 70’s are not much different than they are today.

The major exception is the scrutiny that they endure is 10 times what it was decades ago.

I watched it... The guy was drunk or drugged out, he needed HELP and ASSISTANCE not a drop to the ground several times making him hit his head on the concrete. Then the officer did physically punch him in the head at the last for no just cause.

it was at least twice on the tape - the first one was tossing the guy on his head and side further away from the woman recording and the second was a full faceplant after being dragged closer to the where the woman taping was.

or, the guy could be having a heart issue, or an insulin issue, an overdose issue or some other medical emergency. Even vagrancy is not helped by slamming one’s head against the pavement. Which will end up costing the city taxpayers big time.

“Cecil” and countless others were the reason the nation used to have insane asylums.

True, that some were snake pits, like the expose Geraldo did on Brookhaven back in the seventies. But instead of closing them and letting the inmates out in the street to fend for themselves, they should have made institutional changes to the facilities.

Now, the streets are the madhouse’ and neither the sick and mentally impaired are safe nor the public at large!

“or”

Or the truth revealing minute before the video starts has been deliberately left out. The article has no info leading up to the event either.

Covington ring a bell?

How about we actually find out what is in the rest of this video before we spin narratives, people?

The kids from Covington can tell you why yo need to.

I was one of those who has given help and assistance to this type of guy countless times. No one on one of my crews treated one of our “customers” this roughly and would have reported a police officer who did. We treat everyone on the left coast with kid gloves. But the headline of the thread was greatly exaggerated as is your description of the event. And how drunk or high this guy was is questionable as I have seen many come back to life almost immediately. My guess is that this clown was probably a regular and we do not know the full story.

Evidently he was not servile enough to the policeman. That will teach the serf a lesson, bow real low to your betters.

I understand... I have seen the scams myself before. But did you watch the video? The officer was absolutely indifferent about this guy’s situation scam or not, and made him hit his head hard a couple times and then punched him in the head while he was down and no threat. Even if it was a regular scammer it was handled very unprofessional and could have caused additional injuries. It was completely out of line at the least.

“servile”

That is a very good term and it needs to be used more often.

This is not the way we treated our “customers”; this officer appears to be agitated and acting unprofessionally. But you continue to exaggerate in your description of the event. Anyone can watch the video and judge for themselves.

Yeah he looks pretty unresponsive to me, but the only thing I see the cop do is drag him from in front of the entrance, and then he does throw a small punch, but nothing serious. Probably another opioid user, or stone cold drunk.

Its sometimes hard to judge for sure how drunk or stoned the person is in this type of situation even when you are in it. This video is too short to know exactly what was going on.
