Lionsgate's Hellboy made a sly reference to Baba Yaga's history as a threat to the world when the titular paranormal investigator revealed she had previously tried to raise the spirit of Russian dictator Josef Stalin back from the dead.
However, the reference was removed in the Russian version of the film. According to the BBC, the Russian release of Hellboy censored the reference to Stalin. The audio was bleeped out, and the subtitles instead indicated that Baba Yaga had previously tried to raise the spirit of German despot Adolf Hitler instead.

Probably because many Russians believe that communism wasn’t so bad. They weren’t one of the 25 million or so purged by it.

A very macabre and dark movie. I liked HB I and II much better than this current installment. Ron Perlman was perfect in the title role.
So, I did a web search for images of Baba Yaga. Yikes!
Those Russians...
The forces behind US comic mags —who today advance homosexuality and gay marriage— were the same that backed the early Stalin, who later turned on them.
They had their first shock when he signed the Molotov-Ribbentrop Non-Aggression Pact:
“We are die-hard enemies of fascism one day, and the next we are it’s allies..?!”
They were and are okay screwing over all others but somehow when it’s THEIR sacred cow that gets gored, well, they dont’ like that.
