When you tell someone a medicine for dogs cured your cancer, you better be ready for some skeptics, but Joe Tippens says it saved his life, and the lives of others.
Now, even cancer researchers are open to the possibility it might be true.
"My stomach, my neck, my liver, my pancreas, my bladder, my bones -- it was everywhere," Tippens said.
Tippens said he was told to go home, call hospice and say his goodbyes two years ago.
The doctors were unanimous, he was going to die of small cell lung cancer.
"Once that kind of cancer goes that far afield, the odds of survival are less than 1 percent, and median life expectancy is three months," Tippens said.
Tippens said he went from 220 pounds to 110.
"I was a skeleton with skin hanging off of it," he said. "It was difficult."
But that was January of 2017. Today, Tippens is very much alive and what he credits for his survival has doctors scratching their heads, and the rest of us raising eyebrows.
"About half the people think I'm just crazy," he said. "And about half the people want to know more and dig deeper."
Tippens said he received a tip from a veterinarian, of all people. And in his desperation, he turned from people medicine to dog medicine.
Specifically, something you give your dog when it has worms.
"The truth is stranger than fiction, you know?" Tippens said, laughing.
Just three months later, Tippens says, his cancer was gone...

Panacur-C is dirt cheap. If this anti-cancer program works across a wide range of people then it seems it cannot cost more than $500 when you add in the vitamins and supplements you take with the panacur-C

It is associated with bone marrow suppression in some species. Bone marrow has some of fastest replicating cells in the body. Cancer is cells replicating out of control. So, this could make sense
Given the very low cost, it could make sense as a sort of prophylactic in individuals who are genetically predisposed to certain cancers, that is if the health risks are minimal. I recall from having my Lab treated for cancer that practically all human protocols came to us through veterinary trials, that canine and human response to cancer treatments is very similar, medically speaking. What are the risks to dogs, of lengthy exposure to Panacur-C? Anybody got a package? Just curious.

I fear you are right ... that there will suddenly be a rash of dog deaths from being wormed with this drug, after which the product will disappear from the market.

Years ago, I came across a book written on alternative medicine.
The woman who wrote it claimed cancer was caused by tapeworms and that it was easy to cure. She recommended buying anti-parasite medicine at the drugstore to “cure” your cancer.
I figured she must be a quack. I laughed at the book. But maybe she was onto something...
Sure worth a try if they send you home to die. Might want to ease into it a bit because a rapid die off of critters can be life challenging, too. Maybe add some activated charcoal to neutralize the poisons that is emitted before it gets absorbed in your system.
Certain antibiotics are beneficial in cancer treatment, that’s another thing I recall from having my dog treated for cancer, it’s often used off-label as an adjunct to chemo. It appears certain anti-parasitic medications are or might be, too. Stands to reason that anti-fungals could be. They’re all getting rid of an invasion of sorts, that the host immune system is either not recognizing as such or is unable to fend off.

I’m not opposed to alternative medicine, I think there’s a fair amount of overlooked promise there but I’m not a diehard advocate, either. I know certain herbals can be helpful with cancer, but sometimes you need a hammer (western medical science, chemo, radiation or surgical removal) and sometimes you need something more gentle. They can be at cross purposes too, attempting to shore up immune response can actually interfere with chemotherapy. Cancer’s a bitch, and a very complicated disease.

I’ve often said that dogs are better people than many people are. If some day I develop cancer, I wouldn’t mind ending up a little dog-like in exchange, lol. They’re wonderful animals.
I’ve had dogs most all of my life.
