Clemson dynasty on track to surpass Alabama after Uiagalelei commitment

Remember when Alabama was the breeding ground for prospective NFL talent for the past decade or so?

Don't tell that to the Clemson Tigers.

With Trevor Lawrence on the roster for the next two years, the Tigers are poised to have a dominant run over that span, and with head coach Dabo Swinney leading the way, it's safe to say the Crimson Tide are in big trouble.

On Sunday, Clemson successfully recruited DJ Uiagalelei, a 5-star and top pocket passer quarterback prospect in the 2020 class.

Now, the Tigers have their succession plan once Lawrence declares for the NFL Draft and further extend their longevity at the top of the college football world. They'll get it in the form of Uiagalelei, who threw for 3,366 yards and 48 touchdowns last season.

In case you wanted to keep track, Clemson now has the top quarterback, No. 1-ranked defensive tackle Bryan Bresee, and second-best running back in the nation in Demarkcus Bowman in their 2020 class...and much more.

I think Clemson and Bama are going to be trading Championships for a few more years. However, Bama's biggest problem is they cannot get consistency on assistant coaches. But expect Dabo to have to start facing that situation soon.

Roll Tide

BTW, Kudos to Clemson for decisively winning the game. However now St Nick has new stick to hold over players heads.

I hope I can learn to pronounce his name before he declares for the NFL.

First, the “prospective talent” needs to quit getting themselves shot and killed before the season opens.......

I think this recruitment is big for Clemson. But yet again the media completely ignores the real strengths of offense -- the offensive line.

Dabo knows this. That's why Clemson was able to kill us in the natty --- winning at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball on almost every play. Want to see who's going to have the advantage over the next few years? Pay attention to recruitment of linemen.

I think unless there is a major scandal, Clemson will replace Alabama as the #1 team in college football. And that will annoy Southeastern Conference (SEC) fans to no end. Sweeney’s success will drive the likes of Virginia Tech, Florida State and Miami to upgrade their coaching staffs, and that could shift the power of college football away from the vaunted SEC.

Or Clemsons opponents will upgrade the vitamins they take.

I’m not so sure about that. Late last week Clemson fired an assistant basketball coach because he mentioned something about an FBI investigation into the football program. I hope they have done nothing wrong because Dabo appears to be an upstanding guy but these days you never know. Dabo may go the way of Danny Ford...

“assistant basketball coach (Steve Smith, now fired) mentioned something (on tape during) an FBI investigation”.

He said “we keep everything tight” in a context of incentives to sign with the Tigers.

I would interpret this to mean the corruption and cash is very closely held by the athletic department, not farmed out to random alumni that might spill the beans to a business partner or divorcing wife.

Of course, maybe he just meant the sizes of the uniforms.

I guess all other teams should just give up then. Let the Tigers and Gumps play each other every week.
