"It’s pretty amazing how the show managed to start off with a really strong 1st season, then get slightly worse in an almost linear progression toward the sh!tshow that was Season 8."

And there's already a prequel planned, and rumor of two more possible spin-offs coming. Nothing like overkill.

"Oh boy, a whole thread full of people who never watched it.

Ignorance abounds."

Good taste, to the contrary, does not.

GOT was proof of what H.L. Mencken said, "No one in this world, so far as I know — and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me — has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people."

"He didn’t kill Jon because Jon is a Targaryen."

And I figure that's why he was exiled, and they told him he can never marry, or have children. No more crazy Targaryens.

King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water signifying by Divine Providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. That is why I am your king!

Dennis: Listen. Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords, is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony!

King Arthur: Be quiet!

Dennis: You can’t expect to wield supreme power just ‘cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!

King Arthur: Shut up!

Dennis: I mean, if I went ‘round saying I was an emperor, just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they’d put me away!

King Arthur: Shut up! Will you shut up?![Arthur grabs Dennis and shakes him.

Dennis: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system

“Help, Help, I am being oppressed”

Maybe Jon would not burn. Just like Dany.

The only thing my son and I thought was a little goofy was how good Jamie and Cersei looked after getting killed by 20 tons of stones falling on them. Tyrion pulled off several 15 pound rock stones off of them and there was not a mark on them. Cersei’s make was perfect.

Watched about 3 or 4 hours total of the whole series, but I started reading the books in 1999. I suspected back then that Jon was a Targeryon. Lot of clues in book 1 from Ned’s POV chapters.

I tried the show but just couldn’t get into season 1 after I’d already read the books. Read spoilers here and there over the years and I lost interest in the whole thing when it took him 5 years to write Feast. That’s the last book I read from the series.

For anyone complaining about how it ended the only one to blame is George RR Martin. I think he’s completely lost on how to end the books. Excluding a few related side projects, he’s only written one entry over the last 14 years. If the book series is ever completed I doubt it ends the same way.

Books are always better than the movies. I think that is because imagination trumps special effects.

I think an Emmy should go to Daenerys’s hair dresser.
“De braids, de braids!”

I exclusively watch British TV (thanks, Acorn, Britbox and PBS) but though several British actors I enjoy on other shows were in GOT, I had no interest in it due to the violence, PC-ness, etc.

Wait a second, you watch British TV but you avoided GOT because you thought it was PC? British TV is the most disgustingly PC sh*t ever created on this earth (at least for the last decade or so). In fact, watching British TV and stomaching it should have prepared you for watching GOT the same way that running a marathon prepares you for running a 10k charity event.

That hair piece is rather spectacular. She’s a babe!

I read Stephen King’s Tommyknockers until the ridiculosity eclipsed believeability. Never read any more of his crap.

There’s as many bad books as bad TV shows. Actually, more.

It reminds me of ...

Considering the ending, I think they just sent DVD sales and residuals down the toilet.

Nobody buys DVDs anymore. It's all about streaming these days and GoT will continue to get people subscribing to HBO.

I think most fans were expecting a letdown. The story had diverged into too many competing storylines and characters after peaking with "Battle of the Bastards." It was time to wrap it up and there wasn't really a way to do it that would make everyone happy.

Season 8: “Take the Money and Run!”

You inspired me after I've sat through the entire spectacle.

"Who'll Sit On the Iron Throne?"

This is the story of several vying factions
Their ambitions and their violent actions
Starks, Targerians, Lannisters and Barathians,
Each rife with their share of real flawed champions

Wall of the North guarded by hopeless vassels
Jon Snow's duty and destiny has to wrestle
Then Wildlings, mammoths and giant massholes

John Snow found a loophole and run

Who'll sit on the Iron Throne?
Who'll sit on the Iron Throne?
Who's gonna' sit the Iron Throne?

Dragon Queen conquered an East that was fractious
Male heirs fought and failed during their clashes
Lannister schemes find Cercei ghost ruling
Looks down her nose on all the lower classes.

Little Tyreon wanders, always has a lot to say
Little Finger paid for using Sansa the wrong way

The Clegane Bowl, yay
All the villains pay

Three-eyed raven boy rules, he can't run away

Sittin' on the melted stump Iron Throne
Stuck sittin' on the Iron Throne
Has to sit on the Iron Throne
Life sentence to the Iron Throne
