Owners of Kentucky's Noah's Ark Attraction Sue Over Flooding Damage

It may seem a bit ironic but the owners of Kentucky's Noah's ark attraction are suing their insurers over damage caused by flooding.

In a federal lawsuit, the owners of the Ark Encounter are asking for a $1 million settlement after the attraction's insurers, Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings of Switzerland and three other insurance companies, refused to cover damage after heavy rains in 2017 and 2018 caused a landslide on its access road, the Courier Journal reports.

Opened in 2016, the 510-foot-long wooden ark has been a popular attraction in Williamstown, Kentucky.

The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages and stipulates that the ark itself was not damaged.

The ark is was reportedly built to the dimensions specified in the story of Noah in the Bible and is the largest timber-frame structure in the world.

But that was what was insured, not the access road, from what I read. In my eyes they are in the wrong and the insurance companies are in the clear. Unless there is more to the story that I didn't bother clicking to read. Is there more to the story? I hate giving the weather channel any hits.

In the Bible, the ark survived an epic flood. Yet the owners of Kentucky’s Noah’s ark attraction are demanding their insurance company bail them out after heavy rains caused nearly $1 million in property damage.

The Ark Encounter says in a federal lawsuit that rains in 2017 and 2018 caused a landslide on its access road. The Courier Journal reports the attraction’s insurance carriers refused to cover the damage.

The 510-foot-long wooden ark has been a popular northern Kentucky attraction since its 2016 opening. The lawsuit says the road has been rebuilt. The ark was not damaged.

The suit names Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings of Switzerland, its use company and three other insurance carriers.

Ark Encounter seeks compensatory and punitive damages. The Swiss company hasn’t responded in court filings.

The cubit was based on the forearm length from the tip of the middle finger to the bottom of the elbow. These definitions ranged between 444 mm and 529.2 mm. (17.48” - 20.83”)

"Uh, do you have access to the internet?"

Uh, it's called humor. Do you have access to old Bill Cosby routines?

Thanks FRiend.

It’s a reference to an old Bill Cosby routine.

A symptom of old age. ;)

Wow - missed that one. And I thought I was the one being funny. I remember the sound of the saw: “voo-pah voo-pah” and the “Noah!” “What?” part in the skit. Yeah, guess Cosby did say that.

I’m embarrassed to say that I’m a Babylon Bee subscriber AND on their headline writer’s forum. Duh. Geez, guys - ya gotta admit (all due respect to Genesis 6 ff.) that Noah’s Ark having water damage is a headline that writes itself.

Cheers

Did they install the tried and true steam catapult or doe it have one of those electric thingees?

Guess it's safe to assume that only vertical assist jets and, maybe, a Cessna 185 will be able to get off the deck...
