Sometimes good series not only go bad, they do so at the worst of all possible times as in, right when theyre coming to an end. As a result, instead of leaving us reflecting fondly on a show that weve loved and lost, were stuck with an unpleasant aftertaste and a nagging question: It wasnt always this crummy, was it?
The answer, thank the TV gods, is generally no, our favorite programs didnt always suck. But that doesnt diminish the Ugh! of a lousy series finale. And with so many shows signing off recently everything from Shadowhunters to The Big Bang Theory called it a day your friends at TVLine thought that it would be fun to reflect on some swan songs that hit, shall we say, sourer notes.
To that end, weve compiled a list of the 15 worst series finales of all time. Among them are even a couple of show-stoppers that were so atrocious, they were tossed out when the hit comedies in question were revived years later.

13. Gossip Girl
14. Will & Grace
15. Mad Men
Apparently TV started in the late 80's......
No Sopranos?
They got Battlestar Galactica about right.
But Seinfeld couldn’t have ended any other way.
The Prisoner!
It actually addressed the fact that they were 4 incredibly selfish, shallow people.
Few shows do that! :)
By which I mean Galactic is placed on the list about right.
The ending got a lot of complaints.
Yup. The only way to end their shallow lifestyles, thus the series, without killing them was to jail them.
Prison Break!
Why?
Because they gave Scylla to the flipping U.N.
Lost
+1
I can’t judge the accuracy of this list, not having seen any of the finale episodes. (In fact, I have never seen a single episode of 12 of the 15 shows.)
The very worst series finale of all time, though, was that of “Twin Peaks”.
The only one of those I have actually seen is Seinfeld. I thought it was pretty good.
I gave up on Battlestar Galactica far before the final episode...which is sad because despite the horrible writing i still love the original.
I remember liking the final episode of Quantum Leap....Very sad though..
It’s still one of my favorite series and I’ve watched it over and over. But the ending leaves too many issues unresolved. In listening to the commentary track on Blu-Ray the producer notes fan criticism and said we should just ‘get over it.’
lol
I predict Game of Thrones will eventually occupy a top 5 slot. I guess the final episode was too fresh to be included in this list.
I started binge watching it recently and again sort of forgot about it.
yea, though i really liked the cast, the effects etc but something about it...
I got to watch the rest soon.
Struggling through star Trek: Discovery now...2 episodes to go.
LOVE Capt. Pike though.
Guy needs his own show..
