A contractor I work with told me they bid on a job in Detroit but had to give up because no one they tried to hire could pass a drug test.
Eventually restaurants in that kind of neighborhood will either close down or have to take deposits or phone numbers (and verify those phone numbers) before they even seat people. They’ll be called racists, but really, what else can they do?

The restaurant should work with their servers to reinforce not just service, but timely delivery of the bills and are dang lucky someone stepped up to pay rather than it being a $500+ lesson.
Yes, it’s Mother’s Day, the second busiest day at a restaurant in a normal year, and probably the worst day of the year for service in my experience.
No excuse to leave without paying, but also no excuse not to present the bill TO be paid.

The “restaurants” out here in our area are SO BAD that many people leave without eating or paying. Service and food are HORRIBLE out here. Just horrible. Luckily we are great cooks!
