The first trailer for Ford v. Ferrari starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale is out.
The biopic tells the true story of how in 1966, Henry Ford II (Tracy Letts) and Lee Iacocca (Jon Bernthal) tasked legendary auto designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and driver Ken Miles (Bale) to design a car that will defeat Ferrari at the legendary 24 Hours at LeMans race.
The result was the Ford GT40, which became the first car ever created by an American company to win the iconic race.

Auto Ping!
Already here!.....................
most likely true- rivalries were massive, and holding the title to these races was drove these companies to out-compete their rivals—
Too bad Damon is in the movie- won’t be watching it- I’d rather just read the history of the rivalry than support that trump hating- America hating ‘actor’
GT40 Ping!
Yep Ford spent a bundle.
Enzo wanted to sell Ferrari but keep control of Ferrari Racing.
Interesting. Might be a good movie to see.
I often also make decisions about movies I go see based on the actors chosen. For something like this, as the subject of the film is of great interest to me, I make exceptions. Normally though, I wait for it to come to a streaming service or I find some other means of watching it, as most of these things eventually wind up on YouTube, albeit separated into parts (movies usually 1-5).
I’m sure it’ll come to cable quickly too, as movies now seem to.
Casting Matt as Carol Shelby was a mistake.
Carol loved to talk and Matt only talks when he wants to call someone racist or a polluter.
Put a Tesla on the track and it will smoke both of them. B
Tesla beats the hellcat demon! I wouldn’t believe it but I have witnessed it.
Put Tesla on the track and it will be parked after 20 laps waiting for a re-charge.
The stars will play second-fiddle to the cars. There are several great documentaries on the GT40, found them on YouTube.
Exactly. To hell with Matt Damon.
Makes the case that in 1964, Enzo Ferrari was using the threat to sell to Henry Ford II to leverage a buyout by Fiat.
HF II was so pissed at being used that he ordered his engineering department to make arrangements to win LeMans.
Also points out that since the idea of LeMans is how far a car can go in 24 hours is the purpose, since the two GT40s crossed the finish line at the same instant, in 1966, that car that was 20 feet further away from the start finish line at the start was the winner.
Ken Miles, the driver who had backed off to allow the photo finish, got hosed. And he was dead two months later.
Sorta wonder if that will be in the movie.
I agree the subject is interesting- however, I have a subjective dislike of the hypocrite damon- (and against leonard dicaprio and robert deniro- robert redford too for that matter)) There are just some actors I won’t watch no matter what the subject matter- Their presence in the movies just ruin the whole movie for me
I used to watch and like errol flynn- until i learned about his despicable life- Now when there is a movies he was in, That is all i can think of and it ruins the movie- so i don’t even bother watching them anymore-
Ol’ Shel would probably not have taken kindly to the tree hugger Damon playing him on the silver screen.

Wow- Tesla is electric, right? Saw an electric car beat a supercar once on the auto show- can’t remember name now- but they test all kinds of vehicles- do cross country tests with different vehicles- Gah- my memory aint what it used to be-
I apologize. This thread is about Lemans not quarter mile races. Administration can delete my post. And you are correct about needing to charge. I am not a fan of tesla.
Been 30+ years, so I may have forgotten.
Probably. The GT40 was a beautiful Le Mans racer that had no Ford predecessor, or at least none that I’ve ever heard of. I don’t think Ford had been at Le Mans before this car. So they must have spent a ton of money on developing that project.
