The first trailer for Ford v. Ferrari starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale is out.
The biopic tells the true story of how in 1966, Henry Ford II (Tracy Letts) and Lee Iacocca (Jon Bernthal) tasked legendary auto designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and driver Ken Miles (Bale) to design a car that will defeat Ferrari at the legendary 24 Hours at LeMans race.
The result was the Ford GT40, which became the first car ever created by an American company to win the iconic race.

Oh yes. They needed to get sets of replacement windshields over to france because the ones in the cars were cracking.Ford chartered a Boeing 707 freighter to carry over the windshields overnight. So yeah, Ford meant business and the business was to whip the ass of ferrari.
A tesla doesnt have the charm.Sorry
I thought it was 1st 2nd and 4th
LOL
There are very few cars that look that good.
Jon Bernthal as.... Lee Iacocca?!
In case you're not aware of it, Le Mans is a 24 hour race.......
Ping me when Tesla enters an all electric for that race.........LOL!
Literally.
Even Doc knew to make his time machine a hybrid...
In 1966, GT40s staged a triumphant 1-2-3 finish. Then, Ford followed up with an impressive string of consecutive victories in 67, 68, and 69.
50 years later, Ford did it again in the GTE Class, and yet again their most formidable competitor was Ferrari, with the two manufacturers exchanging leads multiple times throughout the long endurance race. The Fords took 1st and 3rd place, with the #82 Ferrari 488 of Risi Competizione taking 2nd place.
Here's the trailer on YouTube.
Indeed - here's a quick one that sums up the story very nicely:
Ford vs. Ferrari - segment from The Grand Tour.
As for the movie, I have concerns about Damon taking on such a colorful, alpha-male character as Shelby. But I suppose casting that role at all was a tall order, given the talent pool these days.
Ford was already funding “on the sly” the Shelby American racing team, which had found success with the Daytona Coupe, a racing car that really gave Ferrari quite a scare at Le Mans in 1964 and 1965.
“Put a Tesla on the track and it will smoke both of them.”
Only if you don’t have to turn or stop quickly. The Tesla would overheat after one or two good runs. LeMans is a 24 hour race.
Yep - too see a good article that shows a lot of the corporate effort and (at the time) cutting-edge expense that was thrown at the GT40's development, Click here. I think the computer design stuff is amazing, given the mid-1960s time frame.
Nope the won’t delete the post, you’ll just have to wear your dunce hat like we all do on occasion.
If enough of us wait until this hits cable, youtube, or Netflix, the money people in hollyweird may comprehend how toxic Damon has become to 50-60% of their potential paying customers and stop casting him in things. Remember Costner? When a studio or two throw a few hundred million down the john by casting a has been in a big production or 5, that tends to get has been actors a lot of free time once the money people figure out the issue.
Sotrry to say, the Tesla won’t
go flat out for 24 hrs.
Damon and Bale.........might be a nice story, but with those two pukes, not worth the watch.
