Over the weekend, Chicago saw its most violent days and nights so far this year. A total of 52 people were shot between Friday night and Sunday night. Ten of those victims were killed, according to NBC News.

Chicago police superintendent Eddie Johnson called the incidents part of a "despicable level of violence," and promised targeted patrols in neighborhoods on the south and west side where violence has become a regular part of everyday life, thanks to increases in gang activity.

The new mayor, a black lesbian, blamed poverty for the high rate of crime. A companion site to heyjackass.com is

http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/

“Poverty Crimes Rise Again
As of Sunday evening, Chicago had tallied 9 dead and 40 wounded. It might go higher by the close of business, but it far outstripped the entire Memorial Day weekend. At this rate, Special Ed might be gone before the 4th of July.

Lightgroot is supposed to be not happy:
I see where Lori is going to have “accountability Monday’s “ for “CPD bosses” each week. She’s going to want to know what they’re doing to reduce violence. Since Lori has said most of these crimes are crimes of poverty does that mean CPD has to reduce poverty in “the community” along with everything else we’re tasked with? Is she going to have accountability Tuesday’s for “the community”??”

Now, I realize Supt. Johnson has an impossible job, given what's around him politically and otherwise, but, HUH?!!!

Why are the targeted patrols not already active, in fact, why have they not been active for years?

I'm sorry, Supt. Johnson, your own apparent incompetence is not helping...

Although 2019 got off to a slow start due to extended cold, wet, weather through “Spring Training,” it is starting to pick up steam.

The stats for this weekend exceeded those for the “sh*tshow” (heyjackass.com description) year of 2016 and the “slightly less sh*tshowy” year of 2017.

With the 4th of July fireworks and Shotapalooza weekend coming up this summer, perhaps 2019 will be the dark horse for the come from behind win over 2019.

If this was happening in white neighborhoods, the pols wouldn’t waste time calling in the National Guard. They would call in the Army.

In big Northern cities, it’s catch and release. Everyone in those neighborhoods knows this very well, so they don’t help the police. If they rat someone out, that person will be out tomorrow at latest after putting up a $100 bond. Then they and their friends will stop by for a visit so that they can personally explain that helping the police is not good for your health.

To permit this to continue is inherently racist.

I live in extremely close proximity to Chicago, and frequently reference Hey Jackass. Either you’re a local or just really good at digging up the dirt on this worthless excuse of a city. Either way, that source is as good as one gets when it comes to our local crime and homicide rate.
